Using Tando Chipboard as a mask or stamp

Hi it's Kaz again and this time I've been using the Leaf Branch with 6 Leaves as both a mask and a stamp and have been assisted by my 11 year old niece Lucy.

We gave the chipboard a serious beating and finally, between us, we managed to break it, but not ruin it!

First I put it on a double journal page and sprayed it with Glimmer Mist over the top of acrylic paint. As you can see, the edges weren't perfect, but with the rest of the page completed it doesn't matter.

I then sprayed it straight afterwards onto another journal page with Glimmer Mists. The background paint for this one had been watered down and this made the mist image much sharper.

Next it was Lucy's turn and, at first, she had sprayed it underneath this, but didn't like it, so she painted the page again and then added lots of acrylic paint to the chipboard and stamped it.

You can see here that she's got some fab texture going on due to the thick layer of paint.

After this battering, the very corners of the leaves started to come away from the main chipboard, so we very carefully peeled away the top layer. We had to add a lot of sprays of water though, as it wasn't that keen on parting company!! Eventually we managed it and Lucy stuck the layers onto another painted card page to make some art with as the patterns and colours were lovely.

And after all the abuse it got, the chipboard is still in fab shape and can be used again!!!

Helloooo, its Karen here and some more flourishes!  These large flourishes are just great to use on scrapbook layouts!  I am showing you two this time on separate LO's...

I have kept the LO's fairly simple as I feel that the photographs are the main interest, especially as they are of my little niece Millie...don't they create some lovely photo opportunities? hahahaha  Both the swirls have been painted with acrylics and then a light covering of fine glitter over the top.

hehe in case you are wondering why there is cow on this one its because her nickname is Moo...poor thing!!!

Di has been working hard on the Christmas 2010 collection and it will be blogged soon, you saw the first yesterday, so keep popping back!  Thank you for looking today, HUGS XXX

Snowflake ornament

Yes folks, we've reached that point in the year where next Christmas is nearer than last!

This beautiful snowflake plaque is one of the new releases for Christmas 2010. It's so lovely that I thought it would be fun to make something that would stick around rather than being here and gone on a card. I've turned this one into a vintage style ornament to hang on the tree.

I used gesso on the whole piece and then added Rub n Buff metallic wax over everything except the snowflakes. Those were treated to a bit of Rock Candy crackle paint and topped off with pearls. The sentiment panel is also coated in crackle paint. Some crystal chain and a metallic cord hanger finish it off.

More details of materials etc in {this post} on my blog if anyone would like them!

Thanks for stopping by!

A CAT WITH A FLOURISH!

Helloooo folks!!!  I am still in flourish mode & have been playing with small flourish no9 for this mini canvas!

The canvas is only 4x4" so that gives you an idea of the size of this cute little flourish.  The flourish itself has been painted with 2 acrylics this time...a red/orange on the edges & silver on the top...very fiddly but worth it haha!  I have added teensy buttons to it to tie up with the colours in the cat.

The canvas has been painted & spritzed with glimmer mists so it sparkles to contrast with the painted cat stamp.  There are glossy accents on parts of the cat.  AS for the saying...well...if you have cats you will understand hahahaha!!!!!  Thanks for looking today, HUGS XXX

Tando Town canvas

A mini canvas using some of the elements from the Tando Town range.

The background has been coated in texture paste and stamped and I've used acrylic paints to paint the canvas and houses.  The houses were also stamped and I've used a little bit of ric rac to finish them off.

Revolving Inkpad Storage Unit

As soon as Di mentioned making a revolving inkpad storage unit I knew I had to have it - even before I saw the final item! I've had inkpads in drawers and boxes dotted around and the idea of getting the ones I use most on the desktop, close to hand was just what I needed.

I've painted and stamped my unit to match some storage items that are already on my desk and took some photos as I went along to show how I did it and to give you an idea of what you can do with them. You can see the article ~{here}~. If you feel you have to have one too, you can find them ~{here}~ in the Retail Store.

As you can see, you can also store the full sized inkpads on the shelves too.

The outside of the shelves is strong enough to store the smaller teardrop or square shaped inkpads. In fact, I now have two of these inkpads on each shelf. I have tested it out (I can't resist playing) and even when I've spun it like mad, the inkpads stay put!!

Here you can see how it fits onto my desktop and is tucked away taking up very little room. I did think of asking you to forgive the fact that all I did for this was push all the stuff to the left for the photo, but I know I am not alone having a busy desk!!

Flourish 9 Small

I just love this swirl as it's so versatile being the size it is.

I used it to create this DT challenge piece along with the Wavy Gothic Arch.

I had a whiteboard arch so I just embossed some snowflakes from a stamp using Antiquities embossing powder as it has a slight frosting to it. All I did next for the arch is to colour using Distress Inks - very simple, but made so much easier all round being white to start with. I punched a hole and set an eyelet at the top using the Crop-O-Dile which cuts through this board easily and neatly.

I then coloured the arch with Viva Precious Metal Paint. This went on the chipboard a dream, which actuall disappointed me as I wanted to paint it some more!! Prepare for more chipboard painted with this - try it yourself, you won't be disappointed!

Hellooooo!!!  Today I have a plaque/door hanger for you made from FLOURISH 9 and part of the SHORT HOUSE SET.  I have a brand new door to my craftroom and that is where it is going to hang...on the outside of course hahaha!

I have used a 7x5" card frame for my background, which I painted, spritzed & overstamped.  (I have used Adirndack inks throughout this project )Then I got to it with the TANDO pieces...

The flourish was just coloured and spots of Stickles put on there & a few roses.  I love the shape of this one & didn't want to dtract from it, though it was hard not to fiddle hahaha!!!  The pieces from the Short House Set have been coloured and the roof & tree overstamped before adding glossy accents.  I also touched up some places, as well as the roses, with a dab of Stickles on my finger!  A couple of punched holes & a ribbon for hanging finish it off.

Thank you for taking a look today, HUGS XXX

Irit's altered box

Another stunning project to show you today from Irit.  This time using 2 of our pieces, a flourish and one of the very popular Karen frames.
Irit has used this big swirls with 2 blue acrylic paints, pearl ex macro pearls and 3d glue all over. The small frame was inked with 2-3 blue inks and than heat embossed several times for the effect. The inside inchie piece was stamped , distressed and heat embossed for a grungy look.
Fabulous work...why not pop along to Irit's blog to see more of her art.

COME IN NUMBER SEVEN...

...number 7 fourish that is haha!!!  This is one gorgeous flourish and the best bit about it is that its at right angles!!  I played with the large one which is 13cm each way...great for scrapbooking!

I don't often get a scrapbooking head on but this really inspired me to get some done.  I used this favourite pic of my hubby...often to be found in this pose :D

I have only painted the flourish with acrylics because its very pretty in itself.  There will be more info of what else I used on my blog in a few days.  Do take the time to scroll down & see what a few of the other DT members did with this lovely flourish.  Thank you for taking a look, HUGS XXX
