A Vintage Wood Box Frame

Hellooo ! As it is a Free for All week, I (Coco) can show you something I made recently for a lady who loves vintage and shabby things. It's an Artemio wood box frame with plexiglas. To tell the truth, I'm not a specialist of  Shabby and Vintage, even if I really love some works of crafty friends who create always exquisite projects in that style ! But for me, it's a bit out of my comfort zone... However, I'm really happy with my frame. Should do it more often maybe... hope you like it.

Reading my last Craft Stamper issue of October (often my bedside book as I miss time to read otherwise), I came across a beautiful Vintage wall hanging by Elisabeth Borer. It was the starting point of my inspiration. I gessoed my frame first, then I chose the same paints she used as they really combine beautifully (i.e. PA Fresco Finish Nougat, Stone, Brown Shed and French Roast). I painted it on all faces and decorated it with a piece of corrugated cardboard - for this one, I painted it also in Stone and next put some brush strokes of brown and pink here and there... also sanded it a bit for a more aged look -, a beautiful Magenta stamped image, various stamped and heat embossed (or punched) leaves, roses, charms, lace, trim and beads... and, of course, several chippies chosen among my Tando's mini grab bags that perfectly complete the scene inside and make gorgeous embellishments (on the top left edge), adding beauty to the whole.

A close-up of my hand-made rose and my lovely bird on its branch above. I used Nougat and Stone to paint it, and added a small touch of  brown paint (Chocolate Pudding) on the edges and a very little drop of dimensional Black enamel to draw its eye... The branch was just painted also in Chocolate to match.
My largest rose is assembled from several punched flowers into watercolour paper and painted using the same set of colours than for my box frame. It takes a bit of time and practice, you must be patient, but well worth doing it !

Another close-up for you of my large butterfly. It was stamped with a text stamp then covered by several translucent or semi-opaque paints. I put a few droplets of Ranger liquid pearls (Mint Green) to end. My small heart received almost the same treatment, except that I used only soft pink paint shades for this latter.

Tando's grab bags:

Butterfly Grab Bag
Mini pack of Birds and Branches

Well, it's rather cold today here in France... Hope you have a bit of shiny sun in your land wherever you are ! I wish you a very creative and lovely week-end, see you soon on Monday for another themed week in a totally different style haha !!! xx
