Scallop Nested frames

For this art board piece the background is thick high gloss card splattered with Alcohol inks.    The new Tando Scallop nested sets both square and rectangle have been distressed with lots of Distress Ink, and Inca Gold and arranged over the board.   Having decided on the layout Clarity stamps where used in the framed spaces.     To get the panel to stand on its own one of Clarity's handles has been stuck to the back.

This was one of those lovely messy projects when everything was given liberal coats of colour blended with both sponge and finger. The frames are great for this kind of thing making an art piece rather than a scrapbook page.

When is a mask not a mask?

My first thought on handling one of the new masks was "Wow, bet that's thick enough to get an embossed impression off it". You know what? It is!

They work beautifully as masks but I always like to find more ways to put my stash to work so I was pleased with the way this worked out.

I just layed a sheet of DCWV white core card over the top of the mask, laid an embossing mat over the top of that and ran it through the Big Shot before lightly sanding over the embossed impression. (So for the "sandwich" that was mask laid on the first clear plate, card on top face up, embossing mat and second clear plate on top of that.)

I finished up a quick masculine card with my embossed piece by adding some punched circles with a little stamping on them, some brads and a broad mat in dark chocolately brown.

As ever, full supplies are listed {here} on my blog if anyone would like them.

Thanks for stopping by!

Waxing lyrical

Hello, thanks for joining us for the last of the technique pieces from me and Carol! We've been playing with metallic wax finishes this week.

Carol had fun with lots of different colours of Inka Gold (made by Viva Decor) and several Tando chipboard shapes combined into this fab piece.

The journaling block was embossed in the bug and then covered with graphite Inka Gold before orange Inka Gold was smeared across the piece.

The hearts from the little frame in the middle were removed and covered with lava red Inka Gold then covered with Glossy Accents. The image is from some Graphic 45 paper with the face hi-lighted using an acrylic fragment. The frame was coated with lava green and edged with graphite Inka Gold. The dragonfly was coated with orange and then edged with the lava green pastes before having some metal heads attached.

Do visit {Carol's blog} if you would like extra details.

Sorry to give you a Christmas project in May but ever since I first saw the bookplates, I've had the idea in my head that they'd make fun Christmas tree ornaments!

I covered my book plate with some Gold Leaf Rub n Buff (made by Amaco). I then hit the frame repeatedly with the fatter end of my embossing stylus to get the look of beaten metal. The sentiment is stamped onto an oval of cardstock trimmed to fit the back of the plate. I added a thin layer of glitter for extra festive sparkle and then finished with a stamped Santa and some pearls.

Full details of supplies are {here} on my blog if anyone would like them.

Thank you so much for joining us over the past couple of months - we hope you have enjoyed the projects!

Altered photo box

My new  " old" altered  Kraft box, made  for photos with this Tando Creative huge Dress form.  I dressed  it up a lot, with some inking, tulles ,a pin and my own beaded necklace. The box was covered with Echo Park papers and stickers, but the sides were covered with this Ikea free measuring tape inked a bit with  distress inks. So the box was a trash, the tape was for free, the wood spool was
also recycled- but Tando chipboard made it all looking great

Masks

I had big plans to decorate this box when I went on a retreat last weekend but, as soon as I saw the masks that Di took with her, that all changed! The masks are such a good quality as they are slightly thicker than most other ones I have used which means they don't flick up as you are using them.

For the border I used the Stitches Group mask with white acrylic paint and doodled around them. They are so easy to line up.

I then used the Random Circles mask with Distress Ink on the body of the box.

10 x 10 Frame

I have decorated this frame with Echo Park's Candy Shoppe Dots and Stripes and it will be used at the upcoming Artstamps show in Edinburgh.

I have also used a Tando Creative Birdcage and bird which have both been sprayed with Mica Mist, the scalloped bunting has been coloured with a ProMarker and the Tando flower has been covered with paper. I have then added some ribbon, Prima Flowers and Butterflies

10 Very Cute Bunnies

I have used Echo Park's For the Record papers to create this layout. The arrow and swirl are Tando Creative and have simply been coloured with a ProMarker, which are brilliant to use with chipboard

Butterfly frame

Hello, its Karen here :-D .  Today I have a little plaque for you using lots of different Tando pieces.  I love these round frames which come in a nest! I have used the outer circle for this which measures 12cm across.

I painted it with acrylic and then crackled it with transparent Viva Decor.  The background was just painted & lightly stamped with a lovely verse added.  The Tando butterfly (from the butterfly grab bag)  Has been stamped with a butterfly image (another grab bag) & then touched round the gaps with acrylic.  The larger flowers are from yet another grab bag (see hw useful these bags are :-D) and have been stamped & painted.  The tiddly flowers have been cut off the little row of flowers below...

I then layered the flowers up as in the picture.  So this post is really about the GRAB BAGS which are sooo handy to have in your stash!!!!  Thank you for taking a looksee today my lovelies, take care, HUGS xxx

You: little monkey

This lo is not so new, but was never posted as it was published in April 2011 issue of Scrapbooking News and Review web magazine and had to be out of all blogs for a month.. So May issue is on and now I can share it here and in my blog too
I made this page for my very new- now 4 month old- grandson Omer and I made it with his Mom's pregnancy photo, his own ultrasound photo and one of his very first photos and he actually looks as a monkey. I used this Tando Creative title " you" I loved(OK- I am totally addicted to all Tando titles as a
scrapbooker) and the title was covered with a heavy layer  of some simple blue acrylic paint and then I added some random glitter  using Doodlebug glitter. The paper is from Best Creation Safari Boy paper line together with some stickers and small alphas, I cut and embossed the matting circles with CLD dies and printed all 3 photos on different kinds of mediums. The mom's photo is a photo paper, the US photo is on transparency, the baby photo was printed on canvas- just for the interest

And here is a title  from Tando- I love them all so much!! Great that I still have one or 2 left for my
future scrapping

Utee and beeswax

Hello, Carol here again with another technique Wednesday.

This week Joanne and I are using utee - I was also supposed to do a piece with beeswax - unfortunately I had a slight mishap with the beeswax!! lol so I promise I will do another piece in the next few weeks...

So, utee - there is a gorgeous range available now in many different colours with loads of different ways to use it...either heating with your heatgun or in the melt pot.

Joanne has created this gorgeous hanging:-

The larger piece is a twinchie and suspended from it is an inchie....these had three layers of utee and then stamped into with perfect pearls, heated wax was then dropped onto the piece and then covered with rub n buff - a  bit of acryllic paint, glass pebble and florist wire complete the piece..... do pop on over to Joannes blog for a full description.

 and a close up:-
isn't it gorgeous?

I've had one of those weeks where the ol' mojo has gone on holiday and everything I've touched has gone pear shaped (especially the beeswax!!)

This was piece one:-

A journalling block covered with two layers of clear utee then different coloured utees on the top which when heated all melted into one, a stamp was then pressed into the molten utee and then when cool inka gold rubbed over the top.

Piece two:-

Journalling block covered with distress stains and then tissue paper adhered......the edges were then covered with molten utee - a tando cog and some buttons finish off the piece.

Thank you for joining us again this week.

See you next Wednesday for our last piece.

New Cog Mask

Steampunk well definitely magical worlds think Edwardian Sci fi 'War of the worlds', 'The time machine' all those elegant costumes both Ladies and Gentlemen wore, and the fantasies they wrote much as I love modern Sci fi there is something special about Jules Verne and Co.

This slightly altered wooden frame then. Frame from the £1 shop already stained but not varnished so it came ready to alter. Using the new Tando Cogs Mask marked the basic frame with Distress inks in Vintage Photo and Rusty Hinge. Next Tando Cogs from Large Heart Cog set, Large Cog set and Small Cog set, these were coloured with Distress Inks, and then Glimmer mists. Cogs arranged and then glued together, once they were fixed the cog mask laid over and Cosmic Shimmer in silver sprayed over. Cog piece attached to frame and then some washers, altered glue, Viva Ferro paste and various metal embellishments. Needing a picture stamped a butterfly in Brilliance ink and remembered that I have a shrink piece from the same stamp.

Lots of different Tando products went into this

Sports Sets

Father's day is the 19th June could be time to start planning.   My late Father was sport mad in fact if it was not for televised sport I don't think we would ever have had a TV!

The new sports set from Tando inspired me to make this card using the Cricket set.    Used distress inks and Pro Markers to colour the chipboard and glued it directly onto the card.

Check the suppliers list above to find your local stockist.

The cricket set has all the essentials, stumps bat and ball.

Paint Job

Hello, welcome to another Wednesday with me and Carol. We've had the paints out this week (and probably both have the gunky fingers to prove it!).

Carol has made this fabulous piece with a beautiful weathered verdigris look to it.

She started by painting four wavy twinchies with Claudine Hellmuth Traditional Tan acrylic paint, then spritzed with Adirondack colour wash and Dylusions peridot ink spray. The pieces were then blotted dry, pieced together and stamped.

Carol used with watercolour pencils and Neocolour 11 watersoluble wax pastels to enhance the image, sanded back the edges of the pieces and finished with some gold acrylic paint.

Gorgeous, isn't it? Stop by {Carol's blog} for more details.

I went for texture with my paint by painting a heavy layer of gesso onto my journaling block and stamping into it with a background stamp. Once dry, I added a layer of crimson acrylic paint and when that was almost dry, dabbed gently with a baby wipe to highlight the texture.

I've added stamped images, punched stars and some gold Rub n Buff around the edges to finish.

Full supplies etc listed {here} on my blog if anyone would like them.

Thanks for stopping by today, hope to see you again soon!
