Enjoy the Great Outdoors!

Hi! The sun is shining and its lovely and warm outside as I type this and I hope the same weather is still with us when this post goes live as its beautiful!!!!  It makes us all think about being outdoors and I am no exception.  A lovely walk on our nearby moors sounds wonderful :-D

This week I have an 8x8inch canvas to show you on the theme of 'THE GREAT OUTDOORS'

I quickly painted some fields and sky for my background and used Tando Gardening with watering can Mask for the clouds (it has lovely clouds in this design)  I spread some Sparkle Medium (Black Stars)  through the smaller of the Tando Footprints Mask twice, with one reversed.  The Tando Camera has been painted and doodled with some Sparkle Medium for the lens cap.  The strap is Cornish Tartan ribbon :-D  Some Viva Glass Effect dots and computer generated quote complete the project.

Star Gazing

Hello everyone, this weeks theme is the 'Great Outdoors' so I went for a slightly different slant, and rather than the Great Outdoors by day, I went with it at night.  The Tando stars were perfect, and I covered them in gold and yellow gelatos, then I added a layer of glossy accents and sprinkled some golden glitter in.  I also used some of the cogs from the grab bags, using the same effect but just with some silver gelato and then silver glitter - they made the perfect embellishment for my astronomy theme!

Anything Goes - Mini People Dominoes

Hi Tando fans! Dana here today sharing a set of dominoes for the "Anything Goes" theme this week. If I had a penny for every time my husband said "That's what she said," I'd be a very rich woman! I thought it would be fun to alter some dominoes, one for him and one for me. The NEW Mini People were the perfect size for these Straight Dominoes.

I embellished the background of the dominoes with the NEW Long Flourish Mask and the Dotted Star Mask. I added some Mini Stars that I painted a bright yellow for a fun pop of color and some strips of clear patterned washi tape.

Thanks for stopping by today! Be sure to stop back tomorrow. We're sharing a special project created by the mega talented Neil Walker!

Anything goes for April

Hello my dear crafty friends and welcome to Tando Anything goes week.
This  is my " Anything" project and this time I just used Tando fantastic new release masks  over my themed beach layout.

I used textured paste over this delicious new mask and then added a lot of distress inks to make it a part of my background paper. This mask really looks like a sunburst and is really versatile. It's modern design that can be used over  the numerous kind of projects and is a MUST TO HAVE Tando product!
I am sure I will use this mask over and over and so should you!
Our new Tando retail on- line store is just around the corner and you will be able to buy Tando products on- line in a very short time!

Ring Binder Free For All

For this free for all week, I'm showing the folder I made for the Journal 52 I'm doing this year:

I've used the ~{Ring Binder with 6 x 6 inch inserts}~ and started with using thick texture paste through the ~{Drain Cover Mask}~ and the circles from the ~{Tree and Leaves 3 part Mask}~. Once dry, I sanded the texture down a bit to smooth it out. I've used acrylic paints to colour it and added some stamping. I put the mask back over the texture and dabbed some white acrylic paint onto them, I wanted to keep it relatively simple so left it at that.

For the letters, I used texture paste mixed with acrylic paint through the individual ~{Have Your Say Mask}~ letters. Once dry they've been cut out and doodled around.

I'm keeping the inserts to make other things with.

Free for All - Two frames with a single mask

Happy Easter everyone! We are having a 'Free For All' week, and that's a good opportunity for us to show off some awaiting works made with our Tando goodies that can not go in any other themed week. For me, I enjoyed playing with a unique mask, the Ocean Jellifish designed by Neil Walker. This endearing artist has made a large set of masks on Fishes and Ocean in particular, and some are really really fab... if you go here you will see all at a glance, and if you like water world and seascape you should not be disappointed! I love this mask (and the others, already on my loooong wishlist), I've also discovered that it is very versatile, allowing to create both gorgeous backgrounds but also very interesting and beautiful textures.

I made two frames with this mask featuring the sea bed. To add texture on the edges, I tried two different techniques. The first frame is a plain canvas.

To decorate the edges, I used at first black Gesso to paint and prepare my canvas for the next layer. Then I took my mask and some Dreamwaver Crackle Paste mixed with a bit of remaining black Gesso, and applied the paste over different areas all around the frame, turning the mask if needed and using masking tape to maintain it in the good place. Let well dry. I next painted the whole canvas with several translucent paints (I used Acrylic Silk Glaze in African Jade, Bolivian Blue et Stargazer). Also added black paint again with a sponge to make the texture stand out... wiping out the excess. And last but not least, I used Treasure Gold Spanish Topaz to highlight the edges and the textured areas.
The background was also made with Ocean Jellifishfollowing the same process as the one used for my two last cards I showed you a few days ago (starting with a white silk card and playing with blue and black Dylusions ink, water and salt). The small translucent splatters you may see were done with Glossy Accents (at first I wanted to glue salt granules, but finally I removed them). I created my seascape by stamping the coral reef  at the bottom using black Stazon and two mermaids from a plate of four (love this design by klimt!). I also quickly stamped a small fish here and there with Brilliance inks (Starlite Silver, Pearlescent Poppy, et Rocket Red Gold) to complete the scene. I love the rendering... I mated the card on several coloured papers and affixed the panel in the middle of the canvas with strong glue.

Well I know, the shoe is ridiculous!!! But I had so much fun to play with this new fun VLVS stamp haha!! So I just imagined a stupid scenario where it had fallen on the seabed... and the curious mermaids got close to look at it! :) Well, I think it's not very important... I just wanted to show you the lovely texture this mask can produce, so don't look at the shoo if you don't like it!

Here's the second make. To make a change I had fun to alter a plain small red frame (21,5 x 16,5cm).

At start I sanded the frame to remove varnish, then did the same application as above by gesso-ing in black the whole parts first. I sanded lightly some areas to let the red below pop a bit. I took my mask and some Grunge paste blended with a bit of remaining black Gesso and applied the mixture on the frame, proceeding by parts, and letting well dry each spot before doing another one very close. I used masking tape to maintain the mask in place. When totally dry, I recovered all textured parts with Studio multi-medium Gloss by Claudine Hellmuth. Next step was to paint over the whole frame using the same paints as previous, using more African Jade this time to accentuate the green shine. At each layer, I removed the paint over the textured areas with a baby wipe, the gloss medium acts as a resist and the final texture is fabulous! I also added Treasure Gold Copper to finish, both on the edges and on the texture... Love the shine and the final effect on this make thanks to this Neil's mask, hope you can realize how beautiful it can be even if very hard to render in photos!

Add some paint spots to your Tando card

Hello my dear crafty friends! Irit is here for our spotty week. I must say that I was a bit challenged this week. I didn't want to use spots mask and didn't find anything spotty in my Tando stash, so I just made a lovely and simple card and made my own paint spots. Finally , I think, those spots added the major interest to this card.

And those are Tando mini stars I used over this card, heat embossed with gold and silver embossing powders.
See you soon again with our Anything goes projects.

Spotty card and a video

I hope you are enjoying the gorgeous spottiness on here again this week.

Di asked recently if I'd do some videos of some of the things I make for Tando. So here is the card and the video of how I made it:

I have used the ~{Random Circles Mask}~, ~{Sequin Waste Mask}~ and the circles from the ~{Tree and Leaves 3 Part Mask}~.

All Dotty

With this weeks theme on dots I went straight to my sequin waste mark - I rubbed some chalk inks through it in pink and blue and used them as little bits of paper within my circles - as I handout all those circles I added some doodling to distract from the fact that they are not perfect..and doodled around the polka dots too!

I also added a little Tando chipboard camera as it went perfectly with the photo, as I don't have a grey pro marker I just coloured it in with pencil (as the cameras on the paper are outlined in grey) which adds a really soft effect to the chipboard.

Spotty week!!

Yes, we are seeing spots before our eyes over at Tando this week :-D  I have chosen to use a small ROUND FRAME for my piece and a Stampotique Mushroom stamp to go inside.

This little frame comes with its own stand but I have made it up to hang.  The base has been painted blue with a teensy dot stamping to finish.  The rim has been painted sand and some red has been stippled through the TANDO SEQUIN MASK.  The mushrooms have been stamped, coloured and cut out to go inside with some doodling and wording to finish off.

Thank you for looking today, many HUGS, Karen xxx
