Stencils - You are my Sunshine

I love this stencil by Andy Skinner and it fitted perfectly with the title of my page - "You are my Sunshine" - as it is called Sunburst.

I started my page, working out where all my elements were going, and there is quite a bit of reflections going on there - like the title and the photo blocks, so I did the same with the mask, just reflected it on a diagonal line.  I used some white gesso and a palette knife with the mask, though any white acrylic would work, I also tried to create quite a thick layer of paint so it adds some texture to the page.  You'll need to leave a little drying time as the 2 circles overlap but I love the effect the mask gives to the page, drawing your eye into the photos.

This photo shows how impatient I am with my drying time!!! The first circle is really crisp - I forgot to wash the mask in-between the 2 circles - hence this one is not so crisp....so patience and washing is a virtue :))

Stencil Card by Kaz

I made a short video of using 2 stencils to make this card:

Here's the time-lapse video:

I used the ~{Tree and Leaves 3 Part Mask}~ and ~{Garden with Watering Can Mask}~

I just added the 'beautiful' sticker afterwards as I felt it needed something more.

Make your own backgrounds with stencils by Irit

Hello my dear crafty friends and welcome to our Stencils week. This is a perfect week for me as I really love stencils and I am in love with Tando ones! So here is my new layout made with a very stencilled background using our adorable Tando stencils. I used 2 of them here- the very new Long Flourish one and the older, but the most loved, Have your Say stencil. I used texture paste with an add on of some pink paint and it made the perfect pinky background for this pink girly page of my dear niece. The Flourish  mask has 3 separate parts and I used all of them over this page.

And here are the products I used for this project:

Free For All - Speech Bubble Arch

Hi Tando fans! Dana here today sharing an arch for the Free For All theme this week. I started this piece with the inner cut from an Arabian Style Layered Arch Frame and a favorite song lyric. I'm very much an introvert and there are days when the noise of the outside world gets to be a bit overwhelming. Luckily I have art to help sooth my soul!

I colored Small Speech Bubbles with some "loud" colors of ink and then stamped script over them. I used a label maker to print out song lyrics by Ray LaMontagne that read "I'm drowning in the small talk and the chatter."

Thanks for stopping by today!

A new product and the chance to make one of these in a class

As it's Free for All week I thought I would take the opportunity to show you one of our new products that will be released very soon.

This is our new Noteholder/Penholder set that has a little drawer in each unit too to hold all your knicks and knacks :)

These will also be showcased at the upcoming Craft Barn Extravaganza where you will also be able to make one yourself in a class I am teaching on Monday 9th June.  You can find all the details HERE.

As you know our greyboard can be run through and embossing folder which gives it a very distinct advantage over wooden pieces.  These are also incredibly sturdy once they have been decorated...you would barely notice that they weren't wood.

Anything Goes Steampunk

For this week's Anything Goes theme, I made a card in the Steampunk Style, but Kazzed it up a bit by steering away from the usual masculine colours:

I made the background using the ~{Cogs Group Mask}~ and Brilliance Inks for a bit of shimmer.

I've used a couple of stamped images and then painted 2 cogs from the ~{Grab Bag of Cogs}~ and used the Brilliance ink on them, then doodled on them both.

I don't think I'd like to use those wheels though, they look a bit lumpy!

Free for All - Printers Tray

I love Tandos printers trays - they make a lovely gift and also you can layer up loads of paints and inks on the chipboard.  This tray has a little cover that you lift up to reveal all the filled boxes.

I started by covering all the chipboard in a layer of white gesso to help show off the mists and stop them sinking in to the chipboard. The painting and layering is made really easy as these frames come in layers that you can build up.  After the painting, I then went on to inking and used brown and blue cosmic shimmer mists, drying in-between layers and it gives you a beautiful covering of colour with that lovely mica shimmer.  Whilst that was drying I then covered the back board with some paper, then once everything was dry assembled the tray and went to work filling the little windows with lace, embellishments, papers - all sorts of little treasures.

Leave a trail with Tando: Anything goes week by Irit

 Hello my dear crafty friends!
Irit is here again and this time it's a very complex Mixed Media board made with a lot of Tando products, old and new, masks and chipboards. I really like the result and hope you like it too.
As you can see the basic of this Mixed Media piece are two Tando masks: Sunburst one and a very new Bullseye one. I used texture paste with both of them and then a lot of misting and painting over.
The London skykine medium sized chipboard was heat embossed and gued  on the bottom corner. The compass chipboards left bare and just a bit inked and a few of Arrows were painted with black ink and heat embossed over with a clear powder.

And here are the products I used for this project

See you soon again!

Swirls Week - Flourish Tag

Hi Tando fans! Dana here today sharing a tag I created for the Swirls theme this week. I embellished a stitched heart tag with swirls using the new Long Flourish Mask and embossing powder. I cut a Small Corner Flourish to create a second heart, which I colored teal, and a swirly "arrow" to pierce my stitched heart.

I cut a Mini Book Plate in half and glued it to each side of my tag to frame my hearts.

Friends with Swirls!

Hellooooo!  This week we are using SWIRLS on our projects over at the TANDO CREATIVE BLOG.  I have been a bit nostalgic with mine and gone back to my earliest Stampotique stamps to create a 'friends' picture using a Tando Creative 6x6 inch  FRAME for my base as well as the BLOCK FLOURISH (you get 2 in a pack)

The block flourish has been painted in the same way as the frame using Americana Bahama Blue and then some accent dots stamped over in Orange VersaMagic.  The flourish was then glued to the top to become a part of the frame.  The background is patterened paper which has been gessoed and the same accent dots stamped randomly.  The dotty stamp is actually some waste packaging :-D  Always worth looking at plastic bottoms hahaha!

The figures have been stamped and coloured with Alcohol Markers and the sentiment is PC generated.  Here are the TANDO pieces that I used...

Thank you so much for taking a look today, HUGS, Karen xxx

Swirl card

I made a card for this week's theme of Swirls:

I started off with ~{Flourish Long Mask}~ directly onto the card blank and added some doodles for depth. Next I painted one of the ~{Mini Book Plates}~ with acrylic paint and added Glossy Accents and a birthday message. I painted one of the ~{Mini Leaves 2}~ and stamped onto it before finishing up with a few layers of card and flowers.

Here's a close up:

Swirls week with Irit

Hello my dear crafty friends! Irit is here with my Swirls creation.
This time I decided to make a Mixed Media flat canvas and to use our new released Long Flourish mask  as a main point of my background.

The mask was added with texture paste and then heat embossed with a lot of embossing powder and misted all over it. You can see it clearly on this lower photo here.

Then I added two Tando most loved (by me) chipboards- the clock and the Flourish #7; both chipboards were covered with a mix of red and black embossing powders and  the clock became the frame for the embellishment cluster.
I hope I inspired you to make your own Mixed Media boards or pages and as you can see Tando masks are just the best for this kind of projects.
And here are the products used here

See you again soon!
