Halloween thrills with Tando Supplies - Brenda

Hi Everyone.
HAPPY HALLOWEEN
As it's an Anything Goes week I thought I would pop in with a project and some photos of a class I taught recently at Country View Crafts using lots of Tando greyboard embellishments and their fabulous media boards.

This was my sample, a Halloween Triptych with three media boards held together with a back panel and lots of grungy techniques and images.

Several people had said they would love to do the project but were not fans of Halloween so I made a nature inspired autumnal board to use as inspiration fo those who wanted to mix it up a bit.

I took a stamp platform with me to show how to get clear stamped words on textured paper.

We had a fabulous group of ladies join us - some who had been to my workshops before and some new to CVC.

As always there were moments of fun and laughter .....

... and some of focussed concentration.

It was not long before people were designing their boards and choosing the fabulous chipboards from Tando to add to their projects.

Then we started to see different colour combinations ......

.... and the different compositions shine through.

We also saw how the DecoArt media paints and metallic lustres could combine to create some fabulous effects .....

... and how some splattering added another dimension.

You can see the mix of flowers and leaves, combined with cobwebs and spiders worked well for the Autumn boards ......

.... and how the skulls, cogs and bats could be added into the mix for the Halloween designs.

It's when all of this design and composition work is happening that I start to get excited to see how my original ideas and the techniques I used on my project get applied in different ways to create some really fabulous and unique work.

Each set of three boards were individual and personal to each participant as I encouraged them to follow their own muse and instincts putting their own personal stamp on their work.

Once the boards had come together and people were happy with the stories they were telling, we spent time on the finishing details ......

.... and everyone's projects together looked amazing.
What do you think?

The raven and the pumpkin are not chipboards but were created using stamps and embossing powders - they added some great textures to the pieces.

Thanks for taking time to scroll through and see the finished projects.

Halloween Curiosites

Hi everyone Dee here with my piece for Halloween.
I used the lovely Arches from the Triple Arch Frame and a couple of the inserts you get 3 sets in a pack.
Some lovely stamps from Carabello Studio.
Lots of little gems.
Lots of Decos art products paints, Gesso, matt mediums & crackle .
A few clay pieces as well!
I really enjoyed this piece I hope you like it too.
I started by giving a coat of Gesso to all pieces then followed with stamping directly onto the arches I painted matt medium onto the face's of the skulls that the colour would resist from it. paint was applied in washes and sprayed with water till I was satisfied. the frame was painted with prussian blue then given a coat of crackle paint from the Americana Decor. A top coat of Serene was applied over this.

Cheers Dee x

All Things Spooky - Face Your Spidery Fears!

Hello!

It is heading towards that spooky time of year so this week on the Tando Creative blog we are thinking about all things spooky!

Autumn is always a time when spiders and cobwebs are seen a lot more, but they are also one of the things I think of when I imagine spooky old places.  So for this weeks project I have decorated the Tando cobweb arch including some grey board spiders for extra fear...

I started by preparing all the arch layers with gesso then once I had decided on my layout used sand texture paste on the outer layer for a more aged look.  Using texture paste and the mini cobweb stencil I added extra detail onto the back panel of the arch.  All the pieces were then painted using fluid acrylics and I used a mixture of colours to create a rusty effect at the front.  To bring out extra texture I added gold gilding wax...

To make the spiders appear even more dimensional I dabbed sand texture paste onto them too then painted them black with gold gilding wax added over the top...

I wanted the web to stand out against the background so used a small paintbrush with gilding wax to make it gold.  To create even more texture and dimension I used black micro beads and some other larger beads, adhering them mostly amongst the cobweb.  A few details were added to the spiders using gold liquid pearls and then to finish I stamped a sentiment from Andy Skinners 'Unexplained' set and blended black soot distress ink over the top.

Here are the products I used:

* Tando Creative - Layered Arch with Cobweb
* Tando Creative - Grab Bag of Spiders
* Tando Creative Mini Stencil - Cobweb
* Andy Skinner Stamp Set - Unexplained
* Decoart Fluid Acrylics
* Decoart Mediums

Thank you for looking and happy crafting!

October - Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Hello Carol with you today, today starts our "Pink bows and threads" week for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Here is my piece:-

The base is an artist trading coin which was painted with acrylic paint - for this project I have used three tones of pink, the medium on the base, then the lighter to stencil thro' the bubbles stencil. The darker pink was added to add "threads".  I tied a small bow with pink ribbon, added some pale pink paper flowers and a sticker quote to finish it all off.

Please pop back during the week for some more Pink bows and threads projects.

Craft Stamper week with Lisa

Hello lovely lot. Lisa here with today's post. As you have probably heard, the Tando team were given a 3D Challenge to feature in Craft Stamper Magazine.

We were all given the same 3D substrate, designed by Di to play with and decorate. Being a CS subscriber I have seen all the examples and they are all so different. There are so many things you can do with it.

Here is my take on it...

I decided to turn my substrate in to a mini stationery kit, so I added some small pieces of paper and mini pencils. I thought this could be a cool little item to keep near the telephone, or next to the noticeboard when a quick list or message would need to made...

If you fancy taking a look at what the rest of the team did with for the 3D Challenge, checkout the November edition of Craft Stamper magazine, which is in shops now!!!

Thanks for popping by the Tando blog today,
Lisa xxx

Craft Stamper Week By Dee

Hi Dee, here with my piece for the Craft stamper Magazine, Di designed these little box's for us to use for our 3D piece.
I used illusionary artists dragon fly from the creepy crawley plate and triple embossed with # Stampendous chunky silver embossing powder.
On the corners I used Deco art Snowtex and little peal seed beads along with stampendous micro glitter.
Deco art crackle paint and media washes were used to decorate the surface. A few beads from my stash and some snowflake substrate from Tando to complete the piece.
I hope you all like the different pieces that the team have created.
Have a good weekend
Cheers Dee x
