ATC Week- Fiona Randall

Morning all it's ATC week here on the Tando Blog.

It's been a while since I made an ATC and it was so enjoyable creating in this mini size so I made a matching pair.
The ATC's were cut from Tando Grey Board sheets and the corners rounded using a corner chomper. They were then spritzed with DecoArt Media Misters and stamped with text stamps using black Archival Ink.

I then mounted the ATC's onto a plaque cut from Tando Grey Board sheets which was given a coat of DecoArt Chalky Finish in Carbon.  Of course I had to add my signature Butterflies..... why not.
some doodling using a white posca paint pen to the edges and a word chip to finish.
Thanks for stopping by today,
do come back throughout the week
to see what other delights the creative team have in store.

Stencils week by Dee

Hi everyone Dee here with my make for the stencil week here at Tando creative. I hope you are all well and keeping safe. My husband has just found out that he is back to work on Saturday next week and my son is moving back to London I think I will feel a bit lonely I have got used to the house being busy.

For this one I chose the lovely Andy Skinner Retro set which contains five stencils. I used 3 of the greyboard tags which I then applied texture sand past through 3 of the stencils.

I followed with acrylic paint using an assortment of techniques just playing really.

Some close ups.

The top tag was varnished with a gloss varnish the other 2 were finished with ultra matt varnish. These really are a great little set of stencils to have in your stash.
Cheers Dee x

Morning all it's Stencil Week here on the Tando Blog.

I've used one of my favourite go to stencils from Tando- The Long Flourish Stencil on the large circles and also the Tando Dot Stream stencil in the background. Teamed up with Chocolate Baroque Butterfly and Text Stamps. Love how this came together with just a few simple supplies.

Do stop by the rest of the week to see what the other Team Members have in store for you.

Stenciled Square

Hi there!
Celia here, and this week our theme is stencils. I’m a bit obsessed with stencils so I thought I’d just let rip on one of the Tando greyboard squares. First I put down a quick background of DecoArt chalk paint in Escape and Vintage.
Then I started layering up with some blues (Tando 4x4 ‘distressed diamonds’ , stitches)

...and some purple (4x4 ‘distressed sequins’ , Andy Skinner ‘Whirlpool’)

...and some green (long stencil ‘rings’ ) and some numbers in black (Tando 4x4 ‘numbers’)
...and then some circles with the Chalk Paint (Tando 6x6 ‘Grid Round’). Then a bit of crackle paste and Andy Skinners ‘Baroque’ stencil, which I painted with a wash of Prussian Blue when dry.
Here’s the finished background. You can see that by layering up the stencils you can obtain a very complex looking background.

Then I painted my embellishments with gold and silver, and used embossing powder on the heart. (Small clock, Hearts Grab Bag) before sticking it all together.
And here’s the finished piece.

I hope you manage to get creative with stencils this week!

Thanks for stopping by,

Celia x

Stencilled Card

This week the theme is stencils and I've made a very quick card:

The stencils are perfect as a background for a stamped image, keeping it clean and simple.

I've inked thought the Giraffe Mini Stencil, which is one of my favourites for a simple background.

All that is needed then is a focal point and a greeting.

Butterfly's by Dee

Hi everyone, Dee here with my butterfly make it is one of Tando's Mini Foldover Clipboards which I have decorated using Deco Art fluid acrylics. I started with a plan and when I got there I didn't like it so I covered over the lower layers allowing them to peep through in area's. Using black and burnt number together I painted the entire clip board and covered over what I had done.Taking a wet wipe I knocked back the paint to allow the quinacridone gold to show through round the edges and other area's. I added some embossing and the big butterfly.

Have a great day remember there are no mistakes in art 😁 just new directions or additional layers.
Thats it for today guy's.
Cheers Dee x

Butterflies- Use Your Wings- Fiona Randall

Morning all Fiona here with my project for this weeks theme on the blog BUTTERFLIES......
Yay I love me a Butterfly in all sizes shapes and form . These Beautiful creatures are a an absolute joy to create with.

I used one of my favourite Tando Long tags and gave it a base coat of DecoArt Tinting Base. Next up I sprayed the tag with DecoArt Media Misters in Turquoise Shimmer and Yellow Green spritzing with water to make them move around and blend.Once dried with a heat tool I stamped all over the Tag with a script Stamp from Chocolate Baroque's Eccentric Edwardian Stamp Set in black archival ink. I then created a master board with DecoArt Media fluid Acrylics in Primary Magenta and Pyrrole Orange blending the colours together to get an ombre effect. I then stamped onto the masterboard using the butterfly stamps from Chocolate Baroque's Butterfly Mind set in black archival ink. These were then fussy cut and the edges inked. The tag was then edged with black archival ink and some doodle lines added with a black posca paint pen. A piece of tando grey board was then cut to size to create a plaque and this was given a coat of DecoArt Chalky Finish in Carbon. The tag was then applied to the plaque with off cuts of grey board added to give depth and dimension. The butteflies were then added down the centre and to finish a sentiment added. I do hope you have enjoyed this short tutorial. Do stop by the rest of the week to see what the other team members have in store for you.

Butterflies Binder

Hi there!
Celia here with a fabulous new journal to play with. They are the DL binders, and this one is roughly 15x23 cm. These will be on Hochanda on Monday 11th July. They come with some very versatile greyboard inserts, which you can really throw different media at.
I decided to go vintage this time, instead of my usual colourful, and it then developed into a butterflies and insects theme. I painted all the greyboard pieces in Decoart Chalk paint Whisper as a base coat. I stencilled some crackle paste on some of the greyboard pages. Then I used some of Seth Apter’s dye ink sprays to get a vintagey mottled effect, and then some washes of transparent yellow iron oxide. It smudges the sprays a bit but that just added to the effect.
I used a variety of stamps to create a background, including Andy’s Textures set, then added the butterflies, some stamped with Archival and some with embossing powder. Most of them are Tim Holtz stamps. The cover has some Tim Holtz ‘melange’ tissue wrap for the main image. I painted the spine in DecoArt fluid acrylic burnt umber. I also added some tabs and note paper, using the new templates, to record all those butterfly sightings!
Finally I added a Book Plate covered in embossing powder. Here’s the finished journal.

Thanks for stopping by!

July Colour Theme- Large Media Board- Fiona Randall

This is the colour theme for the month of July.

I created a bight colourful Stamped  Flower in a Mandala style. Very Boho Chic.

I painted the media board with DecoArt Carbon Chalky Finish. Then embossed all over with a stamp and clear embossing powder. A painty master board was created using the colour theme colours. Then petals stamped and fussy cut adding some detail with a white Posca Pen to highlight some of the details. The petals were then arranged on the media board using 3d foam pads to give depth and dimension. Finally a sentiment was stamped with black archival ink  to finish.
