Christmas Gift Box

Hi there, Celia here!

I was feeling the need to do some crafting, so I made a little gift box from the large matchbox kit. I decided to use the Chocolate Baroque Tomte stamp I got at the Comfy Pyjamas retreat.

I first painted the inside of the sleeve in Romance chalk paint, before assembling it and the tray. I painted the inside of the tray red as well. I did the outside of the sleeve and the tray in DecoArt gold. Then I applied crackle medium to the outside of the sleeve. When this was dry I quickly painted on chalk paint in Vintage and watched the crackles magically appear. I love the effect of crackles over metallic paint.

I stamped three of the Tomtes onto paper, coloured them in and fussy cut. I stuck these onto the box along with a sentiment. All done! A quick and easy gift box just in time for Christmas.

Hope you have a happy and safe Christmas, even if a bit smaller than expected !

Christmas Week 2- Fiona Randall

Morning all I'm back with my second Christmas Project for week 2 of Christmas.

I decided to creat a Christmas Sleigh from scratch from Tando Grey Board Sheets.
For the sleigh Blades I cut two strips of Grey Board, rounded the corners on one end then sprayed with water and curved the grey board around a paint bottle.
As the grey board dries it hold the shape of the curve- Neat eh. One dry these were given a coat of media fluid Acrylic in Raw Umber.
Onto the top of the sleigh next.
A piece of Tando grey board was cut and the top given a rounded shape.
A distressed finish was then added with DecoArt Chalk Paints, then scored with a pokey tool to create the look of wood panels.
Vintage Music paper was then applied to a small Tando Tag size 1 and the edges inked.  A paper Snowflake was the die cut from Christmas Scrapbook paper from my stash.
A small Tando Mini Snowflake was given a coat of chalky finish paint and the edges inked and then the snowflake assembled.
This was then attached to the tag along with some stringed silver bells.
Everything was then assembled to complete the sleigh using off cuts of grey board to give depth and dimension.
Isn't it amazing what you can construct from a sheet of grey board and your imagination.

Christmas Concertina Mini Book - Heidi Green

Hello, Heidi here to share a Christmas project with you.

Hoping all of your Christmas preparations are coming along. Mine are nearly there, just a few cards to make and pressies to wrap.

Due to the Covid restrictions, I haven't been able to see my lovely daughters, so looking forward to a family Christmas with them, fingers crossed.

To my project, I absolutely love mini albums and especially Tando Creative ones, of course.

As you can see, I have decorated this concertina one in some festive beautiful papers, glitter and gorgeous stamps. The mini album kits, are on the Tando Creative website HERE and come in a pack of two, so double the pleasure!

Here are the products used :

Tando Creative Concertina Mini Book

Hobby Art, 'Colin the Robin' stamp set

Thats Crafty, 'Lots of Words' stamp set

Anna Marie Designs, Christmas Jingle paper pack

Versafine, 'Onyx Black' ink pad

Distress Oxide, 'Bundled Sage' ink pad

Paper Artsy, 'Nougat' Opaque paint

Stickles, 'Mercury Glass'

Clean Color Brush Pens

Green Ribbon, Scissors, glue and smoothies for edging

Instructions :

Firstly, I painted the whole album with 'Nougat' paint and left to dry.

I chose some gorgeous poinsettia, music notes and holly papers from the pad and stuck them down on the book, covering the front back panels. I used a piece of thin sandpaper to finish off edges.

Stamped up 'Colin' the robin, leaves and holly, coloured in and cut out using some sharp scissors.

Stamped up sentiments, cut out and edge with 'Bundled Sage' ink using smoothies.

Place images and sentiment elements in the book, stick down.

Add some glorious 'Mercury Glass' Stickles wherever you want.

Cut green ribbon and place through holes and tie nice neat bows.

Ok, that's me done for now. Back to the wrapping!

Have a wonderful peaceful, healthy Christmas and hoping you get to spend time with loved ones,

love from

Acrylic-a-go-go by Jan

Welcome to the blog, how’s your Saturday been?

This week I’ve been playing with reverse painting on some acrylic tags. I can highly recommend having a go at this, but start simple! These babies nearly made my brain explode 😂.

I first came across this technique in a class I did with Mark Gould (tweedledum and tweedledee photo), and then Di did the toadstalls in a project, so thought it was time to refresh my memory.

Acetate is almost impossible to photograph well, and hard as I tried I couldn’t capture the depth that you get with the texture and painting. These really look like you are looking through or into water, the light somehow penetrates the acetate and adds its own depth. I’ll see if I can capture it on a little video...

The idea is you start with your stamping, add your colour and finally your background - it’s all backwards though! So if you want dots on something, you do the dots first then the main colour behind. Di showed this perfectly on the Comfy Pyjamas Retreat.

I just love these Chocolate Baroque Stamps

Tweedledum and Tweedledee look much more 3D than they do in this photo!

I also used up the left overs from the Christmas Wreath from my blogspot last week, making little tree decorations (although they are light enough to go on a gift tag or card).

It looks like i've been busy, but I’ve done lots of 'thinking' this week (yeah yeah 'procrastination' is more like it) 😂, but I started, and then disasemble and restarted (!) my house project for the '12 Houses of Christmas' next year (Find here), and planned out my first few projects for next year. This is very, very organised for me, but I’m really enjoying the process 😌. There are lots of Tando projects to get involved in next year, so stay in touch 👌

I hope you are having a good weekend, and run up to Christmas.
Big hugs/clap on the back (depending on our relationship 😂).

A Christmas tag by Celia

 Hi there Christmas Crafters!

I’m just starting to get into the Christmas mood now - I’m a slow starter! To kick off Christmas week, I’ve  used one of Fiona’s gorgeous layered tags and turned it into a Christmas bauble. I was channelling the vintage vibe for the colour scheme.

I started off by priming the top tag with white chalk paint so that my colours would be nice and vibrant. Then I painted some patches of bright coloured chalk paints and applied a layer of crackling medium once dry.

When this was dry I started on the centre. I pulled out lots of bright coloured embossing powders to make my bauble. I painted a section with the Wow embossing brush, being careful not to apply to much of the medium, then added the embossing powder. I did this with each colour.

Before doing the border, I brushed on a coat of pale green chalk paint, leaving a small border around the cut out section. This crackled very quickly, and produced the colourful crackle effect I was hoping for.

For the border I carefully drew round the edge with an embossing pen and applied a grungy copper embossing powder (Seth Apter’s Crusty Copper from the Metalz set by Wow) and knocked off any bits that were in the wrong place with a dry brush, before melting. Then I created the top part of the bauble in the same way. I painted the backing tag in gold before adhering it to the top tag. To finish, I went round the edges with some Burnt Umber acrylic.
I hope you get time to do some Christmas Crafting!

December Colour Theme by Jan

Hello creative souls,

They say 'good things come in threes' and creativity seems to follow the trend! The December colour theme was so gorgeous that three of us chose to interpret it, in our own ways. Here’s mine:

I've made a Christmas wreath. The idea came to me quiet quickly and I had so much fun painting, stencilling  and embossing all the pieces, however when it came to putting it together I just couldn't make it fit the picture in my head! So I put on some christmas music, made a cup of tea and kept playing with positioning until it looked 'right'. I'm glad I didn't give up and go with Plan B as it came right in the end.

It would make a great project to do with kids too 👍.

These Tando kits are such fun to paint and put together 👍

last 366 file and folders

 Hello, Carol with you today.

As 2020 draws to a close, today sees the last of my colour projects for the year, and also the last folder and file for my 366 challenge project.

The colour palette was:-

and here is my folder and files for December:-

as you can see, this month, unlike the other months this year, I've done each file a different colour.  The backs have been left painted, but, blank, and I intend to write notes on them of what has happened that week.

So, the question is, how many of you, that joined us with the 366 Challenge are up to date?  I'm afraid that I'm on September…. not too far behind.  But, due to the daily challenges we are all facing I intend to do each day during December, and incorporate a daily fact as I go… will share with you in the new year..

But, just to share here are my first two weeks of September:-

thanks for looking and see you soon xx

December Colour Theme

 Di here again.....shocking LOL!

I actually did the background to this before I saw the colour theme. It then inspired me to add the fish. The top panel is clear acrylic and I hand traced the lettering.

Lots of modelling paste and dry brushing for this one.
