Large Gate

Hi, it's Kaz again and I've been playing with the larger of the 2 Gates that are available. Yet again I have put it through the mill as my first idea didn't work out how I'd like it! Originally, I gessoed it and use Distress Inks, but wasn't happy with it, so I painted it a couple of times with gesso to tone the colour down before I used Crackle Paint over it. I've inked DI into the cracks and edged all the pieces with ink before assembling it.

I've used the gate on an 8 x 8 inch canvas and have cut a small piece off the bottom of the uprights. To get the diagonal to fit, I then had to cut a piece off at an angle. I used a scalpel and found the chipboard very easy to trim and the edges stayed perfect, so go ahead and chop bits if you need to.

I also used the smaller of the 2 Cartoon Birds to sit on it and have used acrylic paint on her/him and doodled and added a gem for the eye.

The canvas is painted and stamped and the flowers are layers of die cut mulberry paper.
