Letters - Family

My Mum loves a family picture and at big family gatherings there is always a request and the camera on the tripod with the dash to get in the photo before it takes.  The Family chipboard word was naturally a perfect title for my page.

I started by covering it in clear embossing ink and then some silver and gold fine embossing powder, I kept inking and adding and melting more powder until I had a couple of layers of the silver and gold.  I then started to add some Ultra Thick embossing (UTEE) powder in blue, green and a white pearlescent one too - I heated up the silver and then sprinkled the UTEE into the molten embossing powder and then heated it all again.  I kept going until I had a nice thick layer.  I then got a wooden mounted rubber stamp with a text pattern, and inked it up with some clear embossing ink and then melted the embossing powder on the word a little more and pressed the stamp into it to get the pattern.  The wonder of this is if it doesn't work the way you want you can just melt it all again and have another go at stamping.  Once finished I then roughly dabbed the top with some more clear ink and brushed over some white perfect pearls to add a little more shimmer.  It's great fun playing with embossing powder and the chipboard - just mind you fingers as it gets hot and make sure you use a heat proof mat to protect any surfaces.
