Anything Goes Week- Fiona Randall

Morning all Fiona here with this weeks theme- Anything Goes.
For my contribution this week I have used one of my Layered Tags produced by Tando.
As most of you know I love Butterflies so decided to use the butterfly layered tag from set 3.

The top tag layer was given a coat of DecoArt Media Tinting base to start. Collage Tissue paper was then applied to the left side and then stamping with black archival ink. The whole  tag  was then given a coat of clear Gesso. DecoArt Media modelling paste mixed with white gesso was the applied through the Tando Dots Stencil to the top and bottom of the tag on the left side only. Once dry I added white gesso to areas to fade out parts of the stamping. Washes of DecoArt Media Fluid Acrylic in Prussian Blue was then added. Drying between layers to build up depth of colour in areas. Washes of DecoArt Media Fluid Acrylic in Carbon Black was then added around the edges th shade and darken. Spatters were then added with DecoArt Media Fluid Acrylic in white. The Butterfly design which is cut into the centre of the tag was embossed with white embossing enamel as was the piece of Tando Diamond Grid. The main Butterfly focal point was stamped onto watercolour paper and coloured with washes of the Prussian blue fluid acrylic adding more concentrated colour to the centre to add depth. A piece of white cardstock was stamped with a text stamp and glued to the base tag. the top layer tag was then glued to the base tag and the edges given a coat of DecoArt Media Fluid Acrylic in Carbon Black. The diamond grid was then glued to the centre and the butterfly attached to finish.

I hope you have enjoyed this short tutorial. Please do stop by the rest of the week to see what the other Team members have in store for you.

'Anything Goes' by Jan

Hello everyone,

thanks for joining me on the Tando Blog.  How are you all doing? Still creating I hope! I've chosen the 'Anything Goes' week as my first post, as I need to dip my toe in gently to the incredible talent pot that is the Tando Design Team. Although they have all been wonderfully welcoming I still feel like a bit of an imposter...

On a greyboard base, I've used white tinting base (its smoother than gesso) as I wanted the black lines to show up on the 8"x8" greyboard sheet, then set to work on the birds. You can really let your imagination run riot on these (especially the legs 😅 ). Once you've painted up your birds,  get your background stamps out and go to town. The last layer to do is the doodling/posca pen touches. If you aren't comfortable with dooding, I've included a few simple ideas below, that look really effective when repeated in different areas (odd numbers work best).

Disclaimer: Any resemblance to the Design Team is purely co-incidental...
😆

I've raised the birds up on spare bits of greyboard so the legs can tuck underneath them.

Some of my 'go to' doodles when a little 'something' is needed.

Please come back during the week to see what the DT have been creating with the fab Tando products.

In the Round theme - Circular Mini Album by Heidi Green

Hello, Heidi here with my first blog project for Tando Creative.

I am so excited to be on Di's team and work alongside some wonderfully creative ladies.

I love all things mini albums and have made quite a few during lockdown, so when I saw the theme for this week, I knew exactly what to do :)

This week, our theme on the blog is :

'In The Round'

and in keeping with this, I have made a colourful circular album. I love bright colours, I am usually a pastel girl but all of our lovely weather recently has encouraged me to go brighter!

Here is my project :

I have used the following products to make my album :

Tando Products:

Two grey board large circles and one small.

Small oval ended template from the A6 Page Templates set

Small grey board Hearts, Jigsaw and Butterfly pieces

and a wonderful Tando stencil called 'Rings'.

As you can see from the photo, mine is well loved :)

Other products used

I used DecoArt Media fluid acrylics

'Cerulean Blue', 'Diarylide Yellow', 'Titan Buff' and 'Cobalt Turquoise Hue'.

Daily Art : Crackle Paint

Versamark Stamp Pad and Papermania 'Seafoam White' embossing powder

Versafine 'Onyx' ink pad

Distress Oxide ink pad : 'Blueprint Sketch'

Hobby Art Stamp set : CS207D  'Jean's Flowers'

Watercolour cardstock

Cosmic Shimmer glue, brayer and heat gun.

Here is how I made my album :

I started off covering all of the grey board with 'Titan Buff' paint, leave to dry.

Using the oval template, cut out two pieces from water colour card, score at ends.

Brayer circles, card elements and butterflies roughly with Cobalt paint.

Using orange paint, brush through 'Rings' stencil over elements. Add blue ink roughly all around items.

Versamark floral images to pieces shown and add embossing powder, heat all over.

Add crackle paint to items and leave to dry.

Stamp up sentiments, cut out and edge with blue inkpad. Stick puzzle and heart pieces to card.

Stick oval edges of card together and then stick into album by scored edges using strong pva glue.

Place stamped sentiment pieces into album and stick down smaller circle and butterfly to front of album. Add 'Grow' to butterfly as shown.

Thanks for stopping by the blog today, keep cool and happy crafting!

In The Round Week- Fiona Randall

Morning all Fiona here with this weeks theme- In The Round.
I love circles and use them whenever I can.

I've used various circles on this tag stamped and given a mystical astrological feel from Tando's Grab Bag of circles. The Tando grey board tag was given a coat of DecoArt Chalky finish in Carbon. Next up some splattering with DecoArt Media Fluid Acrylic in silver and stamping to create the night sky. The Circles were then layered up onto the tag using off cuts of grey board to give depth and dimension.I then added  the little Tando Arrows embossed with white embossing powder on top of the moon circle. Of course I had to add a butterfly from my favourite stamp set from Chocolate Baroque. The tag was then mounted onto a grey board panel. To finish a sentiment was then added to the base of the tag.

Thanks for stopping by today.
Do check back to see what the rest of the team have in store for you this week.

August Colour Theme Slide Mount

Hi there!
Celia here with these gorgeous colours for our colour theme.

I decided to use one of the Slide Mounts, as I haven’t played with these before. The Oriental Garden papers by Stamperia are very similar to these colours so I decided to use them in my design. I found some paints to match the colour scheme:
I put a base coat of PaperArtsy paint down in Chalk, then added Mushroom to dirty it up a bit. I painted the inside frame and back of the cover in Turquoise
I stamped the Cherry Blossom by Lavinia Stamps in Cobalt Archival and coloured it in with Cranberry ink. Then I used the Cranberry ink to stamp crackle on the back cover.

I stuck the scrapbook paper image behind the window, and the sentiment on the back of the cover. I also added a few touches of navy blue embossing powder.
To bind the mailer, I used a piece of cotton tape and glued it to the edges, using lots of pva and pressing it down using the craft mat.
When dry, I trimmed the tape to size and painted it with the Midnight paint. After a bit of wiggling, it opened up nicely and seems to be a pretty strong way of binding the mailer.
So here's the finished Slide Mount. I think they make a really cute piece of mini art!

Thanks for stopping by!

August Colour Theme Twinchie

This is August's Colour Theme:

I've continued with the twinchie theme.

I've painted the base with acrylic paint and then added paint through the Stitches Stencil and then added paint splatters.

I've painted one of the Mini Book Plates and once dry, I used a dry brush and a very small amount of white paint to give it some detail.

I've then finished off with a stamped image, some doodles and a quote.

Announcing our new Design Team Members

We are absolutely delighted to welcome two new design team members to our super talented team.

Heidi Green

Hi, I'm Heidi, married to David and mum to Amy, Jess and Georgia.

I am an avid crafter who loves all types of crafting but specifically stamping, mini albums and mixed media. I am keen to learn new techniques and enjoy mixing up colours. I enjoy combining mediums and am at my  happiest when covered in paint!😊

A very happy and excited to be part of the Tando Creative team.

Jan Bradfield

Hello, arting/crafting/creating has been in my life for as long as i can remember, in one form or another. Im one of those crafters that wants to try every thing they see! But I’ve only really started to be confident with what i create in the last few years. Mixed Media is where my heart is, whether its repurposing finds or ephemera in to a piece, or using paints, pencils, collage, stamps and die cuts, to sketching whimsical girls and animals or even a bit of abstract doodling, I’m in to it all… yes i do have a ridiculously stocked craft room of things that ‘i must have’ only to have them sit on the shelves while i move on to the next intriguing project! And i wouldn't have it any other way. Although this 2020 Lockdown has seen me actually using some of the stuff I’ve collected over time!  Other than crafting, I love to be outside, so i hike and run. I run a lot :-)
This is the first time I’ve been drawn to a DT. My intro to Di, Tony and the ‘Elves’ was at my first Mixology about 3 or 4 years ago, and I’ve grown as a creative because of what they all bring to us through all the different classes.
Im really looking forward to creating with the wonderful Tando greyboards kits, substrates, stencils and inspiration that the DT bring to us.
