Mini Butterly Canvas with Dana

Hi Tando fans! Dana here today sharing a mini canvas. Finding time to create can sometimes be a real challenge. This small 2x2-inch canvas is the perfect size to express oneself when short on time. Simply print a digital image similar to this one created by Susan K. Weckesser and adhere it to a Canvas Corp 2x2 Stretched Burlap Canvas. Mist a Mini Butterfly with your choice of spray ink, I used Tattered Angels Fully Purple Glimmer Mist, and add it over the photo. I love that Tando Chipboard can absorb a lot of mist without falling apart! I finished the canvas by wrapping it with some multicolored twine.

You can find this chipboard and more in the Tando Creative Retail Store! We'd love to have you join the Minis Challenge! To be in with a chance of winning some great Tando goodies of your choice, please make a piece based on our weekly themes and link your project, not just your blog, using the inlinkz tool located at the top of the Tando Blog. You don't have to use any Tando product, but, if you do, you will be entered into the draw twice! There are no limits to how many times you enter, however, we do request that you only enter your piece for 5 challenges. We look forward to seeing your creations!

Thanks for stopping by today!

Mini's on Mini's!

Hello, its Karen here today and I have kept it simple and put my mini's onto miniature whisky bottles.

I covered the little bottles with scrunched up tissue before painting them with a mix of DecoArt Fluid Acrylics (amazing pigment & colours).  They ended up mottled but you can't see that in the photo, sorry.  The mini butterflies & flowers have been covered with Texture Paste and then painted.  When dry I added a touch of Treasure Silver.  While I was at it I also made up a bottle using Mini Birds.  While these are not in the Mini section they are still teensy enough!

I used:
Mini Butterflies
Mini Flowers
Mini Birds & Branches
DecoArt Media Fluid Acrylics
DecoArt Media White Modelling Paste

Why not join us and have a play along with any of our themes this month!  Go to the top of the blog for details & where to link your work!

Thank you for looking , Hugs, Karen xxx

Canvas fun - Anything Goes Week with Dawn

Hi Everyone,

firstly I would like to apologise for the poor pics! My camera is just not up to capturing fine details and I'm hoping to get a new one sorted soon.

Lots of painty, messy fun with this one.............

I started by gluing on the fab mixed swirls to create the side borders. The whole canvas was then covered with tissue paper using pva. This was left to dry overnight before I added a coat of bright orange acrylic. I then stippled on a coat of dark purple acrylic allowing some of the orange to peep through. Using a brayer I added some highlights to the swirls using silver acrylic.
Using stamps from my stash and a sheet of card coloured with neo-colour crayons I made the focal point and quote to finish.

Here is what I used...

Free for all weeks….

Hi its Carol with you today sharing with you this Love Wall Art plaque..

All elements come together as part of the Love Wall Art kit…I added Decoart Traditions paint to all of  the pieces, umber to the bottom base and for the smaller plaques I used turquoise…I then added a coating of distress crackle before painting white over the top of all elements.  All of the hearts were painted with red acrylic, stamped with black ink and the edges outlined before a coating of Decort triple gloss was added.  The remaining elements were painted with a brown based acrylic and outlined with a gold posca pen….. I added colour to my edges using distress ink and adhered all elements in place.

Just add a frame: Anything goes with Irit

Hello my dear crafty friends!
Irit is here and this time it's a shabby lovely altered mini book with Tando frame on the top.
If you just need one single chipboard element to make it the main point of your book cover, go for Tando frames! They are easy to handle and very much " alterable" big frames.
I painted it with green distress paint and added a few layers of  clear embossing powder and get this " bubbled" look. Then I added some metal  trinkets  on the frame top and this was a main  figure of my altered hand made small book.

Chipboard used:

Very Large Canvas!

WOW!!!  How excited was I to be asked to make up a large canvas for a studio!!!!?   Diane loved a quote I had used so we went with that, along with a tree & a house!  The colours match her logo.

I used a kit from Tando Creative (a wall art panel) .  The simple house was cut from one of the panels.  The fencing is also from Tando.  There are lots of layers on this canvas and, of course, I just had to add some fabric and sewing 'bits' onto it!!!  Here are a couple of close ups...

Please note : the letters are NOT from Tando Creative but a mix from my stash.

Thank you for taking a look today, HUGS, Karen XXXXX

Anything Goes - Brothers Layout

Hi Tando fans! Dana here today sharing a layout for the Anything Goes theme this week. I had a blast making this page as a gift for my Sister's friend with the help of a sketch by Kristine Davidson. I have two daughters, so I'm thrilled when I get to scrap some boys, especially when they are this adorable!

I cut a portion of the Square Grid and painted it with acrylic paint to add some fun dimension under the photo.

I had fun inking up pieces from the Grab Bag of Stars to use as colorful embellishments.

You can find this chipboard and more in the Tando Creative Retail Store! We'd love to have you join the Anything Goes Challenge! To be in with a chance of winning some great Tando goodies of your choice, please make a piece based on our weekly themes and link your project, not just your blog, using the inlinkz tool located at the top of the Tando Blog. Anything Goes in April

I'm kicking off this week's Anything Goes for ~{Tando}~:

I've used DecoArt's ~{White Modelling Paste}~ through part of the ~{Letters Mask}~. While that was drying, I've painted ~{Karen's Frame Gothic Arch}~ with a blend of DecoArt White Chalky Finish paint and  ~{Cobalt Teal Fluid Acrylic}~. When that was dry I stamped a crackle stamp onto it and inked the edges.

I stuck a stamped image behind the frame, then added some colour inside the heart and filled the gap with ~{Clear Liquid Glass}~.

I've finished off with some doodling and a greeting.

Keep coming back this week to see what the rest of the team creates. If you join in with our themes, you can win some Tando goodies.

Mini Owl Card

I love it when we have a 'same but different' week as I love to see how different the same things can turn out. I've used the ~{Mini Owls 2}~:

I made a background using Brushos and then I mixed some bronze paint with DecoArt's Modelling Paste and put it through one branch of the ~{Tree and Leaves 3 Part Mask}~. Once that was dry I drew in some leaves and added Clear Liquid Glass to them. I love how this gives so much dimension.

I painted the owl with Quinacrindone VioletDiarylide Yellow and White Chalk Paint, all by DecoArt and used a teeny tiny brush for details. I'm not going to lie, parts of this were quite fiddly to paint, but worth it because the owl is so cute. I didn't use the tiniest eye part, just drew in the black bits!

Same But Different - Owls.

Hi all,

Dawn here today with an owl ATC for you. I love these guys, so cute, and they are available in 2 sizes to provide endless project options.

I opted for the mini owls........

I started by covering an ATC in text printed tissue paper. Once dry a thin layer of green acrylic was applied. The owls were painted with acrylic too and more detail was added with gold ink and a crackle stamp. A heart from the mini hearts bag was covered in gold ink and the owls are sitting on a painted cutting from one of the lace effect borders.

Here is what I used.........

TWIT-TWO OWLS!!!

Twit Twooooooo!!!!!  Its Karen here with some more of our gorgeous new *OWLS* that I have decorated for you.  They come in  *large* or *mini* sized and are very cute!  I just had to add a mini owl haha!

All the pieces have been painted with *DecoArt Fluid Acrylics* mixed with a little white acrylic.  Then the base was stamped & embossed with a leafy border stamp & coloured.  I also decorated some thin white card to go around the large cotton reel.

Everything was glued together with PVA and a stirring stick was added to the back and popped into the cotton reel so that the owl could stand up.  The mini owl was painted in the same colours and added.

If you fancy a play with owl this week then do take a look at our monthly challenge on the page at the top of the blog.

Thank you for looking today, HUGS, Karen xxx

Same but different...

Hi, Carol with you today - the week sees the start of another of our "same but different" weeks.  These are weeks were the DT are all working with the same product - this time we are concentrating on the wonderful new Owl pieces that are available in large and mini sizes…

I decided to use the two large owls…

My base is a canvas board which had grungepaste added using the Andy Skinners masks Have your say and baroque…. I then added acryllic paint over and rubbed back the hi-lighted parts.  The two large owls were painted using acrylic paint and then doodled over…. the saying was typed onto a piece of paper, the edges distressed before being matted and sat on some washi tape.

All Tando products available from the retail shop.

don't forget to pop back tomorrow for another "same but different.. owl piece"

Painting Week with Dawn

Helloooooooooooooooooo,

I'm here to round out the painting technique week for you all.

Paint is definitely my 'go to' medium as it is so very versatile. Any kind will do but I tend to stick to fluid acrylics through personal choice.

One of my favourite background techniques is to paint and stamp on top of the paint with a slightly darker ink to achieve a lovely subtle effect...............

Hee hee can you tell I love bright colours too!!!!!

Here is what I used.............
