Clocks & Time by Dee

Hi everyone how are you all? are you going bonkers with lockdown or are you using the time to craft and create? Over here at Tando the team are doing clocks or time one of my absolute favs so I love the media boards that Tando make maybe even more than tags so what better surface to start on.

I thought I could use stamps as I have a fabulous selection but decided to use stencils and modelling paste to give that lovely texture to showcase the brilliant small Tando clocks.

I also used a clay clock from my stash which sat beautifully on the Tando clock.

#Creative Expressions Andy Skinner pigment paints were used to highlight the stencilling along with Cosmic shimmer metallic Gilding polish 'Enchanted Gold' it is so beautiful the photo's don't do it justice.

I went through all my word stamps and though this one was apt!

I hope you have all enjoyed my media board i might just do a few more for facebook! let me know what you think. Why not make a piece yourself and post it on our Tando creative Zone.
Take care keep safe cheers Dee x

Rust in Time- Fiona Randall

Morning All.
The theme on the Tando Blog this week is Clocks/Time.
I hope you are all safe and well.
Here's my project interpreting this weeks theme.

I decided to create a mixed media themed piece on an MDF base using various Tando gears and clocks plus some off cuts of grey board triple embossed and stamped. All tied in together with a rusty background and stencilling adding some Patina Effects with DecoArt Media Fluid Acrylics. Of course I had to add a Butterfly and some collage elements  from my stash too.
Thanks for stopping by today

Aperture Week by Dee

Hi everyone Dee here with my latest post for Tando creative. I hope you are all keeping well and safe in these upsetting times. Like most of you I have been watching a lot of facebook lives and picking up bits here and there. I have been watching a lot of #Seth Apter Videos and when it came to doing my project today I thought I would try it in a #Seth Apter style.

I love these slide mounts from Tando creative they take a lot of paint and mediums so i used about 6 different coloured paint and used wall paper for the prints along with a pallet knife.

In the inside i have one of the small hearts from the Tando heart grab bags which has been covered in modelling paste then painted once dry a coat of versamark ink and some metallic iron age embossing powders.

I used the wallpaper to emboss the front cover, leather cord to wrap round it and a bead to finish it off. I hope you enjoyed it. See you soon and remember to stay safe.

Cheers Dee x

Aperture week - Mini Frames Fairy House

Hi there!
Celia here with an journaling idea for using the cute Tando Minis Frames, as part of this weeks Apertures theme. I got this idea from Tracy Scot, who likes cutting into her journal pages so you get peep holes to the next page. I placed the frames onto my journal page and positioned them how I wanted, then drew a rough fairy house shape round them (using inspiration from google!)
I drew round each frame and, with a cutting mat under the page, cut just inside the lines with a craft knife. Then I covered the frames with embossing powder.
With a piece of paper under the page to protect the next page, I roughly painted a sky and the house, stippling in other colours on top for depth.
I then stamped on some brickwork with the Chocolate Baroque fragments  stamps and blue and purple Archival. Then I scribbled an edge round the house and added a roof and some flowers. I also chose some heart and star minis to go on top of the towers. I then stuck on all my embossed frames.
I thought it needed a bit more work, so I did some journaly stencilling and stamping. The ferns are the Tando 4x4 leaves  stencil.

For the photo, I have just put a piece of Graphic45 paper behind the windows. I intend to do another journal page so that it peeps through the windows.

I hope you feel inspired to do a bit of journaling. The Tando thins and minis are ideal for this as they are so thin.

Thanks for stopping by,

Celia x

Apeture week- Box Frame by Fiona Randall

Morning all,

It's Apeture week here at Tando, and today I thought I would share a Box Frame with you.

I used the Fabulous Stamperia Paper Pad - Time is an Illusion to cover all the greyboard pieces that come with the kit and inked all the edges before adhering to the box frame. Next up Stamperia Gold Crackle paste through the Tando Flourish long stencil. The frame and the Tando compass and the rest of the embellishements were given a coat of DecoArt Media Fluid Acrylic in metallic gold. DecoArt Black Antiquing Cream was then applied to all embelishments and the frame before wiping back to give an aged / eroded metal effect. Another piece of the stamperia paper from the pad was applied to the inner box frame, Then the embellishments were all layered up using off cuts of grey board to give depth and dimension. The frame pieces were then attached and futher embelishments were added to opposite corners finish.

Thanks for stopping by today.

Anything Goes Week - Mini Concertina Book by Nikki

Morning all,

It's anything goes week here at Tando, and today I thought I would share a mini book with you.

The book and insides were first painted in Everlasting chalk paint.

I then used shades of blue and yellow as a base coat, watered down to create washes.  Let them dry in between adding the different colours.

On top of this, stamping was added in a toning colour, to create the background.  I first used a crackle stamp all over, and then made it brighter by stamping with a text stamp in white, onto the covers only.

I took the thin circles, and painted them in the blue, yellow and brick red, and glued them onto the cover first to use as a base for the feathers.

I triple embossed the feathers, and stamped into the embossing.  The centre feather (gold), was not heated all the way through  on embossing, and it left this cool pattern, so I didn't stamp into that one.

Some silk cord was added to the back covers of the book, so they could be tied through the front cover to keep it closed.

When the book is open, you can see the pages are all co-ordinating, and ready to decorate on both sides, or you can add paper pages to each section by tying them in.

Hope it inspires you to have a painty day. xx

Best Wishes,

Nikki

Twinchie Hanger

Morning All,
It's Anything Goes Week on the Tando Blog this week and here is my contribution.

I decided to make a little hanger using the Twinchies-straight- Set. I decorated the twinchies with a gel print background. Then stamped the  filmstrip from a chocolate Baroque stamp set. I punched holes in the twinchies with a cropadile so as to attach the jump rings as shown. A piece of chain was added to the top to create a hanger. The Butterflies from my stash were then added as shown and to finish a sentiment was stamped and added to the centre twinchie. Quick, easy and fun to create a little piece of Art to hang.

Crackle Week- Violin- Fiona Randall

Morning All It's Crackle Week on the Tando Blog this week and here is my contribution.

Last Year I took a fabulous workshop with the Boss Lady Herself Di Oliver at a Tando Retreat. We made a Violin ( not this one ) but I managed to snag an extra one to decorate at some point in a completely different style to the one we created at the retreat. I used some Stamperia Rice Paper that I had in my stash and thought it would be perfect for this project. I then added gold Cracle paste through a stencil to opposite corners and some Tando Diamond thins to the opposing other two corners. All Parts were painted with DecoArt Media Fluid Acrylics before assembling. Once assembled all edges were inked with an Archival ink pad to define. Finally the violin was strung with some Rusty Wire to complete the project.

Here's a couple of close ups to see all that lovely crackle.

Crackle week - 'Safe' by Nikki

Morning everyone,

It's my turn this week to do a crackle piece, and I made this tag.

I took a Tando tag and painted in random colours, red, yellow and orange all over, then spritzed with white mister to knock the colours back.  On top of this I put a layer of Crackle glaze.

I stencilled in modelling paste on the heart with the grid stencil, and painted the heart red.  I used the Chalk Crackle medium next, and then a layer of chalk paint to bring out the crackle.

The book plate was simply embossed with mixed media embossing powder, and the word 'safe' taken from the dictionary and framed.  I used Heavy Gel medium to glue all my pieces together, and give the word a protective coating inside the plate.

I went back to the tag once the crackle was dry, and used green patina antiquing cream to age it and show the crackle, and then used mixed media transfers to add detail.  Sometimes I like a colour change!

Hope you like it and have a go yourself. xx

Best Wishes, stay safe.

Nikki.

April Colour Theme- Grunge Heart Plaque.

Good Morning. This months Colour theme is this.

I decided to create a Grungy Heart Plaque.

I applied DecoArt Media Fluid Acrylics with a brayer onto the large Distressed Heart. I continued adding layers of colour until I was happy with the result. Then inked the edges with a black archival ink pad.

Next step was to create a master board onto cardstock applying colours of DecoArt Media Fluid Acrylics with my fingers and blending the colours together. Stamping was then added to the master board. Once I was happy with the result I stamped the Butterfly Stamp onto the master Board and then fussy cut out. This leaves you with the stamped imaged coloured and ready to add detailing and highlights with a white posca pen. I then measured and cut a piece of Tando Grey Board to size for the plaque base. This was given a coat of DecoArt Chalky Finish in Carbon dried with a heat tool. A coat of DecoArt Media Ultra Matte Varnish was then applied and dried to seal. An off cut of Grey board was then cut to size and the corners rounded with a corner chomper to create the small word plaque. A sentiment was stamped onto white cardstock then adhered to the small grey board plaque and the edges sanded to remove the excess cardstock. I decided not to ink the edges as I liked the starkness of the white. The heart was the then attached to the base using off cuts of greyboard to give depth and dimension. The same principle was given to the Butterfly when attaching on top of the heart. To finish the small word plaque was added to the base and dotting with a white posca pen was added around the edges.

Thanks for taking the time to stop by today.

April Colour Theme Twinchie

This month's colour theme is this:

I'm continuing with the Twinchies:

I gave the Twinchie a coat of White Gesso and then stamped a text stamp onto it. I then used spray inks by adding drops from the spray and adding water until I got a blend I liked.

I then painted a piece from the Twinchie Industrial set with acrylic paint and added some embossing powder to it. I then added more drops of spray ink and layers of embossing powder until I was happy with the look.

I finished off with a stamped image, some doodling and a couple of words.
