Anything Goes with Lisa

Good morning folks. Lisa here with my post for Anything Goes week. So I've chosen to share with you a sample I did for the Tando Creative show on Hochanda a few weeks ago.

Here is my creation...

First, I stuck the door frame pieces together and used the Tando 6 x 6 crocodile stencil with DecoArt white modelling paste to create the stone work. When it was dry, I mixed DecoArt black gesso and DecoArt white gesso together to make a grey tone and painted the door frame.

I adhered the door pieces together and covered with DecoArt crackle paint. I put some DecoArt sand texture paste on the door hinges and handle. I painted all the door pieces with a selection of DecoArt Media Fluid Acrylic Paints. I then stamped on the door using a stamp from Andy Skinner's Industrial stamp set.

I painted the mushroom with DecoArt Media paints and used some white modelling paste to create the 3D white spots.

I dabbed sand texture paste and crackle paint on the leaves then painted them.

I love playing with the Tando Faery Doors as you can incorporate loads of different textures and techniques to create something fun or a bit more realistic.

Thanks for popping by, hope to see you soon.
If you would like to pop over to my blog, the link is here and I will see you there.

Happy Spring canvas with Irit

This is my new fancy Spring canvas made for our Flowers and Spring week.
I used Tando chipboards, DecoArt mediums and paints and Tando stencils for the background.
The sentiment was stamped over the canvas. The birds were stamped and die cut with the matching die and the leaves were stamped and hand cut after being heat embossed.
All flowers were covered with a thin gesso layer for the less brightness.

Here you can see the Crackle Glaze cover of the title word Hope using DecoArt products.

Spring Flowers - Masked Mixed Media Board

Grow Floral Mixed Media Board by Dana Tatar for Tando Creative

Hi! Dana here today sharing the Mixed Media Board I created for the Spring Flowers theme this week. I had a lot of fun with masks, Distress Ink, and a favorite quote for this piece.

Layering Masks and Ink on Chipboard by Dana Tatar for Tando Creative

I started this project by priming a Mixed Media Board with DecoArt White Gesso. Once the Gesso was dry, I sponged the entire board with Squeezed Lemonade Distress Ink. Next, I applied various colors of Distress Ink over masks, applying heat after each color to set the ink.

I used the Leaves Masks Set of 2 to add green leaves to opposite corners of the board and flowers down the center. I dabbed Festive Berries Distress Ink over the flower mask and then traced around the edge of the mask with a black marker to accent the flower pattern.

I also used the Poppy Mask with orange and purple Distress Inks to add larger blooms to the top and bottom of the board.

Lastly, I used the Trees and Leaves 3 Part Mask with blue, purple, and pink Distress Ink to add the colorful small circles and ovals to the board.

I added a quote with black marker to the bottom third of the board. I finished this piece with a seam binding ribbon bow.

You can find the chipboard I used for this project, as well as a lovely selection of masks and stencils, in the Tando Creative Retail Store. There are several different sizes of mixed media board available, including acrylic, which is my new favorite. We'd love to see your creativity! Share your work with us in Tando's Creative Zone on Facebook.

Anything Goes week by Nikki

Morning everyone,

Nikki here today.  I wanted to share a make with you for my 'anything goes' theme this week, that I made for a make and take recently for Tando Creative and the Ministry of Mixology retreat.

These are the Tando 'Cubbeys', and are great fun to assemble in any way you wish.  Each one makes up a box, either with a solid back or a cut out, that you can add acrylic or acetate or leave empty, and put lights behind if you wish. You can stack them however you want too, or put certain sizes together if you prefer.  And you can add more at any time.

I painted and stamped mine before assembling them, using DecoArt media cobalt teal hue mixed with tinting base to get a pale aqua colour.  Each box was then stamped in a slightly darker shade of the blue, as background stamping.

I kept to two tones of the blue, and pyrrole red for the stamping, and changed the stamps around in each box.  The acrylic shapes are stamped in carbon black, and then painted from behind in layers, starting with the one you want to see from the front first.

The skull box was stamped and his teeth painted white, then I added Stampendous Frantage embossing powder in Aged Scarlet for his nose, keeping to the red theme.

I left the centre of the main acrylic piece clear, so you could just see the writing in the heart, and it looks lovely with lights behind of an evening.

Thanks for stopping by for the 'Anything Goes' week.

Best Wishes,

Nikki K.

Once dry It was painted with very watery washes of
quinacridone gold and pains grey till I was happy
with the results. This was sealed with ultra matt medium.
The skull was coloured in with watery washes of raw umber
Crackle paste was used on areas of the skull as well this was

Create canvas for Anything goes week

Hello my dear crafty friends and welcome to my Anything goes Tando week.
This time I made this big altered canvas with a lot of DecoArt products and a lot of Tando chipboards.
The stamps are from Prickley Pear Rubber Stamps company and fit the mood of this word " Create" I picked as my canvas title.

I used a few Mixed Media techniques here such as  DecoArt Texture paste with  Tando different stencils, painting over the stencilled areas, stamping over canvas and stamping and die cutting images; stamping over tissue paper and gluing it with gel mediums; making paint splashes and using paints and mediums over different chipboards.
Here you can see the title covered with mix of paints and gloss mediums.Part of alphabet stencil is seen here too.

Grid chipboard was painted with DecoArt Media line acrylic and the flowers were covered with Crackle Glaze medium.
