Shopping List Notebook

Hello, its Karen here!  Something seeeples from me today :-D.  I recently made up a tall notebook for shopping lists for a friend. 

I used one of the small but beautiful book plates on the front, coloured & glossy accents applied.  The book has magnets on the back so that she can stick it on the fridge!

Waxing lyrical

Hello, thanks for joining us for the last of the technique pieces from me and Carol! We've been playing with metallic wax finishes this week.

Carol had fun with lots of different colours of Inka Gold (made by Viva Decor) and several Tando chipboard shapes combined into this fab piece.

The journaling block was embossed in the bug and then covered with graphite Inka Gold before orange Inka Gold was smeared across the piece.

The hearts from the little frame in the middle were removed and covered with lava red Inka Gold then covered with Glossy Accents. The image is from some Graphic 45 paper with the face hi-lighted using an acrylic fragment. The frame was coated with lava green and edged with graphite Inka Gold. The dragonfly was coated with orange and then edged with the lava green pastes before having some metal heads attached.

Sorry to give you a Christmas project in May but ever since I first saw the bookplates, I've had the idea in my head that they'd make fun Christmas tree ornaments!

I covered my book plate with some Gold Leaf Rub n Buff (made by Amaco). I then hit the frame repeatedly with the fatter end of my embossing stylus to get the look of beaten metal. The sentiment is stamped onto an oval of cardstock trimmed to fit the back of the plate. I added a thin layer of glitter for extra festive sparkle and then finished with a stamped Santa and some pearls.

Bookplate on a box!!!

Hellooooo, these bookplates are really pretty and really versatile for all your projects!  Here I have used one of the small bookplates that come in a pack of 4, 2 each of 2 styles.  Don't be fooled into thinking that these are really small as they measure 7.5 cm each way, a really good size I think.  Here I have used one on the top of a 9cm x 9cm wooden box...

I kept it simple by just embossing the bookplate with silver.  I only did one coat as I quite liked the 'beaten' look it gave.  The box has ben sprayed with mica paints.

Looking at it now I can see that I should have gone round the edge of the word with ink but hey-ho, these things happen don't they? haha.  Oh and, yes, something precious is going in there!!!  Thank you for taking a look today and remember that there is something new posted most days so do come back!  HUGS XXX
