Same but different ~ by Gez

Hi! Good morning!

Gez here and I am delighted to be taking part in the same but different challenge this week as you will know if you've been popping by the blog this week the design team have been sharing their creations using the same [Shrine 1] Tando Creative kit.

The shrine comes flat packed but don't worry! Construction is easy giving a finished overall size of approx. 100mm x 70mm x 145mm tall. Laser cut from sturdy thick greyboard. A dream to work with and as the design team have shown there are just so, so many possibilities with this shrine.

Here is a de-construction of the pieces decorated, drying and ready to be assembled..

 Finished shrine..

..side view.. don't forget to paint the under side of your pieces.. like me!

Thank you for calling and leaving a comment if you get the chance.

Have a great autumn! Gez ♥

Same but different - by Nikki

Morning all,

It's my turn on our 'Same but different' week to share a Tando Shrine with you that I have made.

We were all given the same piece this week, the Tando Shrine.

Shrine 1

As it's October, and I do love Halloween, mine seemed to call for a little spookiness.

I first painted the shrine in white gesso, and then white crackle paint.  I picked some of the crackle back off on the outside to make it look older.  I painted several washes of colour over the shrine, starting with quinacridone gold, then prussian blue hue, quinacridone burnt orange, diaoxazine purple, then dry brushed with silver.  There may even be another colour or two I missed in there!

The inside walls of the shrine had a similar treatment, but I stencilled clocks on the rear wall, and went darker with paynes grey and silver inside.

The bracken on the floor is actually seaweed I collected on holiday, and the pumpkin was a little pop up toy from the supermarket.  He had a wash with quinacridone gold too!

The sticker 'established 1876' and witches are from the Tim Holtz range, I thought it made it look like an old building, and the witches are fun.  See where the paint is peeled on the building?

I love these shrines, you can have so much fun and the variations from our team show how versatile they are!

I had fun doing this, hope you are inspired to have a go at the shrine yourself after seeing so many different versions this week.

Happy Crafting,

Nikki

Anything Goes Week!

Hi people!  I am here to start our 'Anything Goes' week where we all work on the same project.  Its lovely to see what other people do with the same piece...I hope you enjoy!  We are all working on the very versatile SHRINE this time.

For mine I have gone down the 'nature' route.

I know it looks a little gloomy in there but I wanted to create a 'deep in the woods' feel to my piece.

I painted all the pieces before glueing them together.  (The rooves were run through an embossing folder first)

I painted a picture on the inside.

After I had attached the roof I added lots of Tando elements to the basic shrine ...

Mini Reindeer
Mini Rabbits
Mini Owl
Fir tree
Leaf Flourish

Thank you for popping by today and enjoy looking at what the DT have done this week , Karen x
