As seen on Hochanda TV

Well I disappeared off for the day to Hochanda back on May 24th.

It's always lovely to go over there, the staff and crew are really friendly and do their utmost to make you feel welcome and help you out.

We were still in the old studio which was tiny (you'll be glad to know they have moved in to an amazing huge studio now).  I didn't have a great deal of table space but we managed to get a fair bit on there.

I have to say though, I sent out some of the new pieces to my super duper design team and, boy oh boy, did they come back with some fabulous stuff.  So good in fact, that we are dedicating all this week to each individual designer and their makes

I had 4 product lines on the show, one was some mini stencils and Tando minis packs that aren't photographed here.  They proved to be really popular on the show which was great.

We also had some new frames along with some of our existing Tando Minis to compliment them.  I loved decorating these, they really are quite quick to do.  There are 5 designs as you can see below and there were enough minis in the kit to decorate all of them.

Another big hit were the Whimsical Birds, there are 2 sets to choose from.  Front facing and Side facing birds, each in 3 designs and 2 sizes.  They came with some tags and media boards that were ideal for displaying them and creating really fun works of art.

We brought out these Cubbeys a while ago but I put together a set of seaside embellishments to got with them.  Some of the designs in the set are by Michelle Webb, they are fabulous.  The pack consisted of 6 Cubbeys, the Seaside embellishments and some acrylic for the Cubbeys.

Do pop by each day this week to see some of the amazing makes by the design team :)

Anything Goes with Lisa

Hi folks and welcome. Lisa here with today's post for Tando Creative and I have been playing with some of the newer products.

The team is going to be doing a week of Tando samples show on recent Hochanda shows, but I thought I'd give you a sneeky peek at one of my samples for a show a few weeks ago.

I used the new shadow frames, and here is one of my creations...

I have chosen the diamond shape to blog in this post.
First, I gave all the layers a coat of DecoArt white gesso. On the middle layer I added DecoArt crackle paste and DecoArt texture sand paste. Then using the Tando hearts background stencil, I applied DecoArt white modelling paste. I then painted the whole layer of the frame with DecoArt Media Acrylic paint in Cobalt Teal Hue.

I then used the Fragile stamp from Andy Skinner's Handle With Care stamp set.

On the top layer of the frame, I went round the outer edge with the texture sand paste

Then used the same stencil with the modelling paste down one of the sides.

I then adhered all the layers together and added some teal ribbon through the hanging hole in the top of the frame.

All the products I have used are available on the Tando Website.

Thanks for popping by,
hope to see you again soon.

Anything Goes Week by Nikki.

Hi all,

Nikki here with a simple and pretty tag, made from Di's lovely new material, it's a plastic tag that takes paint really well, and has a rough and a smooth side, so you can choose which to paint.  It's slightly opaque, but if held to the light can be seen through.  They make really good alternative tags.

I painted the tag first with a thin coat of blue, this left streaks which I liked the effect of on the reverse side.  I then added a layer of DecoArt Americana Glitter paint in crystal, which made the whole tag shimmer.

I stencilled Wish, Hope and Be Happy in Lace chalk paint, and also edged the tag in the same with a piece of sponge.

I love the effect this had of an icy looking tag.

Think I was trying to cool down in this beautiful weather!

Happy Crafting,

Nikki

I started out with a plain [Mixed Media Board 80mm x 116mm] These are greyboard and come in a pack of 5.

The quirky bird I painted is from the [Whimsical Birds 2] these come in a pack of 6. Each pack contains 3 bird styles in two different sizes all greyboard and great for taking any medium.

The bird was painted using different Media Line: Fluid Acrylics from DecoArt available [HERE]

Thank you for calling and leaving a comment if you get the chance.

Happy creating, Gez

Anything Goes Week

Hi!  I couldn't resist this large 11"square MDF frame when I saw it and bought a few :-D  This one has been decorated with lots of DecoArt Mixed Media products available from Tando.

To start I drew around the inner side of the outer section (that made sense in my head hahaha!) then glued some embellishments inside the square I had drawn.  I also added some of the removed sections of the textured heart I was going to add later...

Then I went over it all with some gesso...

Then some Primary Magenta mixed with a little Tinting Base...

Nooooooooo.....TOO BRIGHT so I dulled it back with some more gesso :-D ...

The MDF surround and the Textured Heart were painted in Cobalt Teal Hue mixed with Tinting Base.  When dry I spread Crackle Glaze over the Teal Hue.  When that was dry I added a layer of Antiquing Cream in White which was wiped off again when dry.  Then it was all put together.

Thank you for taking a look today, take care, Karen xxx

Industrial/Steampunk door hanger with Irit: Anything goes

Hello my dear crafty friends and welcome to my Anything goes Tando June post.
I love Tando door hangers and the way we can make them in any possible style.
So today I am going to share my Steampunk door hanger and it's just a perfect decoration for any masculine door.
First I used  my most use Tando stencil-Giovanna- Eighties- with black texture paste that became my new love.
Then I painted the background with DecoArt Media line acrylic paints.
The round grid that is a part of Tando bigger chipboard was also painted in the same style and glued over the background.
Half of Tando clock face was added on the side.
Then smaller chipboard parts that from Drainpipes  set were all painted and glued over the hanger.
I added a metal piece that looks like a door handle and also a few round chipboard pieces  covered with shiny paste.

The patina effect was made with DecoArt paints and pastes over the parts of the art piece.

Anything Goes - Soar Wings Plaque

Soar Mixed Media Wings Plaque by Dana Tatar for Tando Creative

Hi! Dana here today sharing the wings plaque that I created for the Anything Goes theme this week. I created two similar plaques, that you can view HERE and HERE. I thought it would be fun to create a 3-piece plaque set with the 3 pairs of wings from the Wings Set.

I started this piece with a Walnut Hollow 5x7" Basswood Thin Oval Plaque and then added a coat of blue acrylic paint. I then added a layer of gold circles to the plaque by spreading Faber-Castell Gold Texture Luxe over The Crafter's Workshop Mini Halftone Circles Stencil. Next, I added a fun print with a strip of floral washi tape, and purple dimensional paint dots.

I embossed a pair of wings from the Wings Set with Ice Resin Iced Enamels Ivory and Silver Glitz powders. The Iced Enamels are designed to color metal, but I use these enamels on chipboard all the time and love the effect. The chipboard wings are one of three pairs included in the set, which varies in both wing design and size. I glued the wings to the plaque and then glued a metal charm embellishment over the top. I added the word "SOAR" with mini letter stickers and a bright pop of color with some hand-dyed yellow seam binding ribbon.

Mixed Media Wings Plaque Set by Dana Tatar for Tando Creative

Here are the three plaques together. You can find the chipboard I used for this project in the Tando Creative Retail Store. There are several chipboard sets available with wings in addition to the set that I used for this piece including a fun steampunk set with cogs, and a whimsical mix of wings and hearts. We'd love to see your creativity! Share your work with us in Tando's Creative Zone on Facebook.
