Sea life is good - an acrylic pour and faux encaustic tag - Brenda

Welcome everyone

I have used one of the 'long tags' today and on it I did my first acrylic pour - woo hoo. Take a look at how I started off and then brought it together with some Andy Skinner and France Papillon stamps.

I used DecoArt Media Fluid Acrylics .......

..... and mixed them with the DecoArt Pouring Medium. I had watched Andy demonstrate these at Stitches back in February and recently on Hochanda and there are lots more informative videos on YouTube - I have put some links on my blog.

This was the result - not bad eh? You can see why I went for the 'sea' theme, the colours are perfect.

I stamped and masked on the bottom of the tag ......

... to create this design and then mixed some media acrylics with a little tinting base and carefully dabbed some onto the fossil shells.

I found a painty piece of card, stamped the octopus and highlighted it with a white paint pen and then gave it a dirty wash of paynes grey media acrylic.

I inked the edges of the octopus with ground espresso distress ink and gave the tag a layer of clear modeling paste using a palette knife. I encapsulated the octopus and added some small glass cabochons.

 I finished by carving the word sea using a pencil and went over it with black posca pen and also added some remnant rubs, a painted vintage brad and some bakers twine.

I'm really pleased with the look and although I debated with myself to add another coat of clear modeling paste I decided against it.

Wings Week by Fiona Randall

 

 

Morning Everyone. Fiona here with my make for this weeks theme Wings. I have used a tag from the Tando Tags Mega Bundle  and a small dinky heart from the Hearts mega pack for my project along with DecoArt Media Fluid Acrylics, Andy Skinner Stamps and Stampendous Embossing Powder.

 

 

 

I started by giving the tag a coat of DecoArt media Tinting base. Next I added DecoArt Media Fluid Acrylic in Paynes grey to a Mini Mister bottle filled with water and sprayed onto the tag base and dried with a heat tool. More layers of spray were added to build up the colour and add depth. Next I stamped one of the church windows from Andy Skinners Gothic Grunge stamp set from Illusionary Artists with Watering Can Archival Ink to the centre of the tag base. At the base of the tag base the word Faith was stamped using Andy Skinners Unexplained stamp set also with Watering Can Archival Ink.

Next I stamped the wings from my stash with Watering Can Archival ink onto a piece of silver Grey Cardstock and fussy cut the wings. A small off cut of Grey Board was glued to the back of the wings and attached to the tag base to give height and depth. I then embossed the dinky Heart from the Hearts Mega Pack with Stampendous Embossing Enamel in Chunky Silver and attached to the centre of the wings. Finally I inked the edges of the Tag with Watering Can Archival ink to finish. Here is a close up of the detail.

Wings By Dee

Hi everyone Dee here with my make for this weeks theme wings. I would have used Tando wings unfortunately I didn't have any in my stash so I used Artyco small angels wings (Tando stock these). 

I used beeswax & my melting pot for the main tag.

I also added some triple embossing to give it an added focus stamps used for the triple embossing are paper Artsy stamp set the stamp in the background is a visible image splatter stamp.

Oil pastels were used on the wax that I had scratched and round the edges of the tag to colour them.

At the centre is another Artyco clay coin this is placed onto a circle from the grab bag. I hope you have all enjoyed my post thank you for taking the time to visit.

Wings - Artful Flight ATC's

Hello!

This week on the Tando Creative blog the theme is wings.  I have realised over time that much of what I create seems to incorporate wings in one form or another and today I am sharing two ATC's that I created using the steampunk wings and cogs...

I started with the greyboard ATC blanks by Tando and used sand texture paste through the mini cog stencil.  I wanted half of the winged cogs on each ATC and as the greyboard is more pliable than other substrates I was able to cut the pieces I needed in half with scissors.  These were then glued to the ATC's and some layered up.  After this both of the boards were both coated with tinting base...

Next I mixed some crackle paint with green gold and cobalt teal hue acrylics and painted the whole of both pieces again.  Once dry I used layers of blue acrylic paint in washes (cobalt teal, cobalt blue and phathlo turquoise) drying in between layers and then finishing with some quinacridone gold.  To help the edges of the cogs and ATC stand out I dry brushed some metallic gold paint across them then used some sepia archival ink which I applied using a sponge...

To finish I added metallic gold splatters and a couple of word stickers.

To create my project I used:

* Decoart Fluid Acrylics

There will be more winged inspiration throughout the week which I can't wait to see!

Colour theme - August

Hi!  Its Karen here again with my latest *twinchie* using the monthly colour themes.  It's hard to believe that its the 8th one of 12 already!!!!!

and the colour palette....

For this one I dabbed all the colours but the blue onto the substrate and used blue on the *corner flourishes* .  Some *crackle glaze* gives a bit more interest!

August colour week

Hello everyone, Carol with you today to kick start Augusts' colour theme week.

The colours for August are:-

strong, vibrant colours this month.

So, in line with previous months here is Mixed media board number 8

Paint was added to the media board (74mm x 138mm) and then white paint was stencilled over.  Using a very thin layer of paint I created the base for my stamped text, I created a "text box" using a black aquarelle pencil.

Taking inspiration from a day out butterfly watching, I painted a butterfly white and added black definition (nothing like the marbled whites we saw!!) and attached this to the bottom.

Definition was added to the edges using my aquarelle pencil.

Layers with Lisa

Hello lovelies, Lisa here with today's post and this weeks theme is 'layers'.

I haven't chosen a specific Tando kit for this theme but instead, I had a rummage through my Tando box and picked out some "left-overs". (If, like me, you have had a few bits & pieces from Tando in the past, you will notice there are always poppie-outie-bits in a kit, which you could throw away or extra pieces of a grab bag you may not have used.... I tend to keep these in a separate box. In my "left-overs" box I have all sorts of shapes in many different sizes and these are the bits I used for this project.)

So, I used one of the innie arches from the Arabian Style Layered Arch Frame, Grab Bag of Circles, Butterfly Grab Bag and a birdcage.


I first Applied DecoArt Texture Sand Paste through the Tando Brick Stencil to the arch and left to dry. 

I added a couple of circles gluing a smaller circle under a bigger one to lift it from the background. 

I added the birdcage, then the butterflies.

I then used DecoArt Premium Acrylics to paint it. When it had dried, I dry-brushed  DecoArt Tinting Base over the top to tone the colours down.
