March Colour Theme - Artist Trading Coin

For March's colour theme, I'm continuing with the {Artist Trading Coins} and I gave it a coat of gesso, then added some washi tape down one side. I've then added acrylic paints randomly and when dry, I've dabbed paint on a make up sponge through the {Bullseye Stencil}.
I painted one of the leaves from the {Leaves Group - Pointed} and once everything was dry, doodled a lot.

I've finished off with prima flowers and a stamped word.

Colour theme for March - Brenda

This week we are working with the March colour theme which is a gorgeous palette of greens and teal. I decided to use one of the media boards from the shop.

Of course I also used my much loved DecoArt media fluid acrylics (available in the Tando store) and played with a new (to me) technique layering the acrylic paints and using water splatters to create the interesting results.

Process steps
1. Paint the media board with a thick coat of sap green, sprinkle with water droplets and leave it to sit for a minute. Start to heat the board but before the watery spots dry lay a piece of clean dry kitchen paper over it to absorb the water. It sucks up some of the paint that has mixed with the water and leaves these gorgeous splatter spots.

2. Repeat step one with a coat of cobalt teal hue. After you have lifted the paper and droplets sprinkle with water again and you get a variation of colour spots in the teal colour.

3. Now mix the lightest colour in the above palette using green gold and titanium white and repeat step 1 again. Here's where I hold my hand up and say I was so busy writing this post at the same time I forgot to heat the board (and take a photo) and laid the paper towel down lightly and pressed gently  and repeated with titanium white.

4. Take one of the Tando flowers with stems, soak it with water and when wet enough split it into three pieces. Rough up the flower petals and dry them again. Paint with acrylics, ink the tips of the petals with brown distress ink and flick with white.

I had the leaf die-cuts sitting on my desk and the flowers are from my supplies.

5. Cut a small piece of greyboard, paint it white and when dry add a remnant rub to create your focal title.

6. Sand the edges of the media board and blend the edges with brown distress ink and splatter some tiny drops of the colours used and dry.
Assemble everything together.

The little flowers look amazing with so much texture and dimension.

I hope you like mytouch of early Spring in the colours and flower design.

Thanks for stopping by.

Scrap it!

Hi everyone Dee here with my post for scrap it. I used scrap old newspaper and scrap paper from from a gel plate print my new passion can't believe I have only just discovered it.

I glued them onto my Tando tag which I had given a coat of chalky finish paint. See below my gel print scrap that I used.

I had stamped the oil pressure stamp onto white card i used water colour to paint it then gave a coat of gloss varnish.I cut it out and glued it onto a Tando circle. I used ferro paste around the edges and rolled it over art stones that I then painted to look like patina and allowed to dry.

I used a palate knife to apply the crackle paste and modelling paste to the tag and put aside to dry.

I had Tripple embossed silver embossing powder and stamped into it then cut out a strip to create a metal embellishment.

Finally I twisted wire to look like barb wire and used natural Bista to colour the tag with lots of water.
Thats it for today sorry for the delay as my internet has been down.

Cheers Dee x

Technique Binder - by Hannah Oxberry

Beginning next week the Tando Team are hosting 24 weeks of Play Day Inspirations, I am so excited to be involved and kicking things off  with a Facebook Live on Thursday 28th February at 19.00 GMT over on the Tando Creative Zone - I hope you can join me!

Here's a closer look at the tag Binder I have created ready for my inspiration tags.

Rather than conceal the greyboard, I decided to make it a feature. I have brayered over the binder in layers of grey chalky finish paints to build a textured effect. I also added a brayered layer of white as a contrast. More texture was added by way of crackle paste, applied roughly with a palette knife.

I chose to used the wording "techniques" down one side of the binder, the letters have been painted black and crackled with glaze. And I have finished the binder with circle stamps in jet blank ink.

The inside of the binder I kept simple, painted in a satin black. I have begun painting my tags with my favourite techniques and can use this as the perfect reference tool.

I hope you have enjoyed the project and I look forward to seeing you for the Play Day Inspirtions soon!

Techniques Journal - By Jane Royston

Hello!

I am really excited to be a part of this project with Tando Creative and the rest of the design team bringing 24 weeks of technique and journaling tags to you all.

To get it started the design team have been sharing their binders and here is the techniques journal that I decorated...

I started by creating the background using a brayer to add layers of acrylic paint.  Detail was added using background stamps with archival ink and then gold paint through the long rings stencil.  I did the same on the inside as well...

To create my title for the journal I decided to use both the inside and outside pieces of the words.  They were painted with black gesso then highlighted with gold gilding wax...

I wanted to add some decoration that matched the idea of it being a journal about techniques, so stamped and cut out the paintbrushes and pencil from the Tim Holtz Crazy Things set, which I then coloured and added to the bottom of the journal...

Here are the items used:

* Tando Creative Binder and Tags
* Tando Creative Long Rings Stencil
* Decoart Mediums
* Decoart Fluid Acrylics

The 24 weeks will be getting underway next week from Thursday 28th Feb at 7pm and will be a mix of Facebook lives, videos and photo tutorials, I hope you will be joining in!

Happy crafting,

Jane xx
