Colour Theme Week

Hi, its Karen here with June's Colour theme.  I am adding to my long scalloped banner with one that has been decorated with a section of a rectangular grid.

After cutting the triangular shape of the rid I pushed out each 'brick' and painted them & the frame separately before glueing them back in place.  Some of the 'bricks' have sparkle while others have glaze or crackle finish on them.  I am now half way through my banner and here is what the pieces look like together so far...

Oh and I mustn't forget the colour theme hahaha!...

Thank you for looking, take care, Karen xxx

Steampunk week with Irit

Hello my dear crafty friends and welcome to my Steampunk Tando weekly post.
I am really a big Steampunk fun and making these project is  one of the best creative things I can imagine.
So this art piece was arranged with lots of Tando chipboards, a few resin, self casted pieces and a lot  of mediums and imagination.
It's a kind of flying scull and looks like an old art cameo.
Each and every chipboard piece was covered with white gesso and them Cogs mini mask was added with texture paste.
Then all pieces were painted with a mix of DecoArt Media line paints.
The wings and the scull are made of resin , but painted with the very same paints in the same way.

I really love this steampunk piece! Don't you?

Steampunk Week with Nikki

Morning all,

It's Steampunk week this week, and I have one of Di's newer kits to share with you today.

It's the small Steampunk kit, and was instantly a firm favourite with me!

I started with the frame and used Crackle paint to give an aged finish, then painted in Bluegrass Green and stippled with Sea Breeze.
The background was stencilled with the Short Circuit Stencil in modelling paste, and when dry, painted in the same way as the frame.  All the components were also painted.  I then took Metallic ....... and went over using my finger to apply the paint to raised area's, and age everything.  The components were edged in Warm White to add to the appeal and make them stand out.  The cogs and centre of my compass were treated with Andy Skinner's rust technique.

There are other parts to the kit but I decided to make a clock/compass affair, and used some of the cogs to layer up the parts to raise them.

There is also a stand with this kit, but I decided a piece of wall art might be nice.  At some stage I might add some rusty wire to hang it by.

Thanks for stopping by today,

Happy Crafting,

Nikki K.

Steampunk Industrial Elements Door

Grungy Blue Door #5 by Dana Tatar for Tando Creative

Hi! Dana here today sharing the grungy door I put together using parts from the Andy Skinner Industrial Elements Set for the Steampunk theme this week. This set features a fantastic selection of chipboard cogs, washers, door plate sets, bookplates, bolt heads, and screw heads.

I started this piece by painting the door plate with blue acrylic paint. I then glued on several raw chipboard bolts, cogs, and screw heads. Once the glue was dry, I painted the raw chipboard pieces, letting the stray brush strokes distress the piece while I worked. I feel like this techniques yields a more natural aged look.

Next, I added a rub-on door number, a metal cog, a rusty metal washer, and a distressed metal key that I tied to the door with a piece of metallic string. I finished this door with a coat of Rock Candy Distress Stickles for texture.

I've created two other doors previously. Follow the links below to read more about each door.

Steampunk week here at Tando

Hi folks Dee here with my Steampunk tag! Sorry a bit late as just back from holiday
and frantically trying to write this as I thought I was tomorrow.
It was a very good holiday though and am lucky to be back as
they forgot to pick us up for the flight back LOL!
I used a lot of deco art products along with the mini flourish stencil
& the long slim tag from Tando (one of my favourites).
The middle heart is a Tando heart which has been
tripple embossed and stamped with
Stampendous's Steam pumpkin stamp.
This was followed with some pumice stone paste from golden
and washed with Prussian blue hue and black
antiquing cream.
The base of the tag was given a coat of chalk finish paint
in legacy and Weatherwood followed by
crackle paint. Black modelling paste through
the stencil.
Wings were made out of paper clay.
below is a list of products used and links to the shop
I hope you all like the tag and please ask if you have any questions.
Cheers Dee x

Anything goes with Irit

Hello my dear crafty friends and welcome  my Anything goes Tando weekly post!
As you all most probably know I am totally in love with Tando Printer's trays.
But this new tray I made is a bit different as I made it with the Tando skeleton and made it as something that can be even wonderful.

Here are some more photos of this project:

And a close- up to the Sugar Scull that was stamped with blue pigmented ink, heat embossed with clear embossing powder and then colored with permanent markers.

The background stamping was also heat embossed and colored.

I mostly used Ranger distress inks to make my background and added some white mist and some distress paint over the tray.
I hope you like my new tray!
See you soon with more Tando inspiration.

Anything Goes week by Nikki

Hi all,

Today I have a Gothic Arch to share with you, in a bit of a pretty style for me!

I had a Gothic Arch that I'd painted in two shades of green, and already put some modelling paste on with the ferns stencil.  I wasn't convinced it was finished, so decided to play with it more.  I covered it in White Antiquing Cream, and left to dry.  Once dried, I took a damp kitchen towel and exposed the green again, muting the colours.

I added a couple more layers, firstly Matte Medium to seal the antiquing cream, and then a Primary Magenta wash.  I used a free stencil from a stamp set and Blue Green Light paint to stencil some background detail on the main panel.  I then gave both a wash with the same paint to tone the colours again.

On card, I stamped in Carbon Black paint, cut out and coloured the cats and butterflies with a wash of acrylic.

I decided the frame needed a little more, so took gold paint and applied all over sparingly with my finger, this bought the tones to an almost peacock shimmer.  The cats and butterflies didn't escape the same treatment, before gluing the pieces on.  I added a small flower from a leftover piece of Tando stash to add dimension to the background.

So I think it turned out kind of 'grungy pretty'!

Thanks for stopping by today,

Happy Crafting,

Nikki K.

Anything Goes - Fly Wings Plaque

Mixed Media Fly Wings Plaque by Dana Tatar for Tando Creative

Hi friends! Dana here today sharing the wings plaque that I created for the Anything Goes theme this week. I created a similar plaque last month, that you can view HERE, and I thought it would be fun to create a 3-piece plaque set with the 3 pairs of wings from the Wings Set.

I started this piece with a Walnut Hollow 6" Basswood Thin Circle Plaque and then added a coat of blue acrylic paint. I then added a layer of gold flowers to the plaque by spreading Faber-Castell Gold Texture Luxe over The Crafter's Workshop Mini Folk Art Flower Stencil. Next, I added a fun print with a strip of floral washi tape, and purple dimensional paint dots.

Fly Wings Plaque Closeup by Dana Tatar for Tando Creative

I embossed a pair of wings from the Wings Set with Ice Resin Iced Enamels Ivory powder. The Iced Enamels are designed to color metal, but I used these enamels on chipboard all the time and love the effect. The chipboard wings are one of three pairs included in the set, which varies in both wing design and size. I glued the wings to the plaque and then glued a metal charm embellishment over the top. I added the word "FLY" with mini letter stickers and a bright pop of color with some hand-dyed yellow seam binding ribbon.

Plaques 1 and 2 in the Wings Series by Dana Tatar for Tando Creative

Here are the two plaques together. Be sure to stop by again next month to see the final plaque in this series. You can find the chipboard I used for this project in the Tando Creative Retail Store. There are several chipboard sets available with wings in addition to the set that I used for this piece including a fun steampunk set with cogs, and a whimsical mix of wings and hearts. We'd love to see your creativity! Share your work with us in Tando's Creative Zone on Facebook.

May - Anything Goes

I'm kicking off this month's anything goes with a trio of quick and easy cards for if you're in a rush.

I've used the {Tangled Yarn Stencil} over a masked off section of the card blank. For the first, I went for a low stripe and the the second a high one. The large butterfly is from the {Butterfly Grab Bag}. The rest of the butterflies come from the {Mini Butterflies}.

For the last card I used one of the stamps from the {Mish Mesh} set.

For all of the butterflies, I've used acrylic paint that has been watered down until it's the consistency of cream. Purple, turquoise and white paint has all been put into one pot, but not stirred and then poured on the first big butterfly.

The other butterflies have been dipped into the paint that has run off from the sides creating swirls.

The single butterflies had a coat of {Decoart Clear Liquid Glass} and white paint pen added when dry.

The trio of butterflies just had the white paint pen added. You can see the detail of the dipped paint effect here:

"Soak It Up!" with Lisa

Hey folks! Today's blog post is for Tando Creative and the theme this week is "Soak It Up!"
This is an amazing theme to focus towards Tando products as the majority of them are made from greyboard. Greyboard is a fabulous product to work with, and when it gets wet it is highly malleable. Which means you can bend and twist the greyboard to manipulate it in to different shapes. It also behaves like Gremlins, meaning it multiplies to a number of layers - so you can have a number of the same shape only thinner. It is great to experiment with this technique as loads of different outcomes can be created.

This week, I decided to make a card and play with Tando Bottles and Jars.

Here is what I created...

First I cut a piece of card 7" x 7" and blended a selection of Distress Inks on to it. I then stamped the stars on to the background.

I collected a selection of the Tando Jars and Bottles and sat them in a tray of water for a couple of minutes. At this point they start to expand and begin to separate. After a couple of minutes, I took them out the tray and squeezed the excess water out of them. Then you can start to manipulate them in to the shape you want. In this case, I moulded the jars and bottles around a paintbrush handle to curve the shapes in to a more 3D shape.

I then painted them all with DecoArt black gesso. I added DecoArt texture sand paste to some of them and DecoArt white crackle paint to the others.
When they were dry, I used DecoArt Media Fluid Acrylic Gold Metallic paint over the top which I applied with my finger.

I them covered some of the jars with clear embossing ink and heat embossed clear UTEE over the top.

I stamped the wood texture stamp on to white card and cut in to 1.5cm strips. I then painted them with DecoArt Titan Buff and adhered underneath to create shelves to sit the bottles on.

To finish, I created the words - "get busy creating" and then painted a border around them with the Titan Buff paint

I hope you like this weeks themed creation.
