Project: Artists in Residence, Lockdown #3!

Hello Creatives,

Welcome to the first of our 2021 ‘Artist in Residence’ blog posts, Jan here, writing from the Tando Bunker for the Creatively Insane. This Saturday night blog is less structured than our usual Design Team projects and themes, its more just a creative outlet for the 'other' stuff we do. Stuff that interests us, stuff we've tried, things we've come across and general mumbling and ramblings. If you have something you'd like to share, I'm sure we could sort out a 'guest' spot...(I'd probably better clear that with Di...😂, but I'm sure there is something we can do...).

This week has been an odd one for me. I seem to have been very sensitive to any new 'news' or changes. Don't worry, I'm fine, its just taken me a bit longer to digest the new year and its convoluted emotions. I'm looking forward to looking back on these 'interesting times' and saying 'thank goodness they are behind us!' But I wont be wishing this year away, I will still be adventuring into whatever I fancy adventuring in to...

So, what have I been up to?

This. I did an on-line class with the mad and wonderful Suz Humphreys. This class is still available and was a lot of fun, very achievable and can be done as a card, a journal spread or as I have done, on a piece of thick greyboard (Click on the link and message Suz if you are interested in doing the class). You know how we buy craft supplies, get them home and then forget what we had in mind for them? Yep, I have a box of wonderful Tando greyboard sheets, that I bought at the last Mixology event (!) and wanted to give them an airing. They work just like canvas, I didn’t even seal this piece before painting, but are smooth, and look great up on the wall as a 'piece'.

Suz talks you through shading, loading brushes for the layers on the hat and robe and the technique for the beard (absolutely love how the beard came out). Then I added some of my own doodling touches on the Tando Inchies 💕

It was also the first week of the '12 Tags, 12 Ways' and we had a full class for the first session - faux slate. I thoroughly enjoyed being the tutor and from those I've seen, you all enjoyed it and created lovely pieces too. Thank you for joining us. If you haven't played along yet, click HERE, the tutorials are free and are on the next 11 Tuesdays at 7pm.

In the search for the perfect space saving unit, I bought myself some storage for my paint. I can't remember who posted up that they had one, but she kindly posted the link from ebay and I got this... When it arrived I thought 'opps thats a bit big!’, but as you can see it's well on its way to being pretty full. The upside is that its freed up two shelves in my trolley! How do we accumulate so much stuff! It's really two hobbies isn't it? Buying the things and using the things 😂. If anyone wants the link to the shelves just shout. They had several different sizes, and I would imaging they would customise for you...

Happy New Year everyone. Stay in touch, keep creating and above all, stay safe 💜. If you want us to look in to anything 'crafty' let us know, its fun to research stuff!

PS. Don't forget Di is on Hochanda on Monday, 7am and 11am,
with NEW RELEASES, that you are going to love...
