Peel it back...

Hi, Carol with you today…as its Monday we have a new theme…and this week the theme is:-

PEEL IT BACK..

so, the idea is, to peel back layers of chipboard… to be honest, due to the good quality of the chipboard used by Tando to create its product this is harder than it sounds… I decided to use an ATC and a couple of butterflies…. and I made this:-

I spritzed an atc with water and left it to soak in for about 10-15 minutes, I then gently separated the layers on the opposite corners and rolled back the chipboard…. I then rolled back the sides and other two corners and left to one side to dry overnight.

Here you can see my layered butterflies - I spritzed two butterflies from the butterfly grab bag and left to soak as before

I gently separated  the layers and rolled back the wings to give them shape - I left these over night to dry too… the next day the chipboard peel backs were rigid and so I gave them a light covering of acryllic paint, stamped the bottom of my atc and then stamped "wish" on the base.  the butterflies were outlined with a black pen and then given a coating of rock candy crackle paste before being adhered to the base… a touch of treasure gold was added to the edges and peel backs.

There are some other great Peel It Back projects lined up this week so do keep popping back and see what the DT have been up to…

If you fancy having a go at this weeks theme we would love to see it - if you link your blog using inlinz which can be found on the tab at the top of the page, you could also win yourself some fab Tando goodies..

Bird Tag for Colour Week

I love the colour theme that we chose for this week and made a tag:

I've used 2 of our new stencils ~{Mini Distressed Diamonds}~ and ~{Mini Distressed Sequins}~ with DecoArt's White Modelling Paste. Once this was dry - it doesn't take very long - I gave everything a good coat of gesso. I used a little bit of acrylic paint and then used Gelatos to blend everything together.

I painted a bird from the ~{Mini Bird and Branches}~ and stamped and doodled when it was dry. I added a load of doodles and some stamping to the tag and stuck it all together, putting a feather behind the bird.

I finished with a typewritten quote.

May Color Challenge - Floral Card by Dana

Hi Tando fans! Dana here today sharing a card that I created for the Color Challenge this week. I embossed a piece of white cardstock and then added flock before piling on some flowers. I colored a pair of leaves from the Leaf Branch with 3 Loose Leaves Set with yellow, blue, green and purple ink to mimic the beautiful peacock feathers from the color inspiration piece. I tucked a Mini Heart, that I covered with dimension paint, to the flower cluster and finished the card with some sentiment stickers.

You can find this chipboard and more in the Tando Creative Retail Store! We'd love to have you join the Color Challenge! To be in with a chance of winning some great Tando goodies of your choice, please make a piece based on our weekly themes and link your project, not just your blog, using the inlinkz tool located at the top of the Tando Blog. You don't have to use any Tando product, but, if you do, you will be entered into the draw twice! There are no limits to how many times you enter, however, we do request that you only enter your piece for 5 challenges. We look forward to seeing your creations!

Thanks for stopping by today!

Home Tweet Home

Hellooooo!  Carrying on with this weeks colour theme (isn't it pretty by the way?) I have decorated the *Mini House Printer Tray* and filled it with little stamped & coloured birds.

The background was covered in old book pages then painted over again with some background stamping added to give a bit more depth & interest.  The frame itself has just been left painted with deep purple acrylic.

This is a lovely colourway to work from so if you fancy joining in take a look at the top of the blog for more info on our monthly challenges & how to enter.

Thank you for looking today, hugs, Karen x

Mini Butterfly Canvas

I love the mini range because they're perfect for cards. They are smaller and thinner than the regular Tando greyboard, but are still sturdy and take a good bashing from me!

I decided to make something other than a card this time and made this mini canvas for my friend's birthday. The canvas is about 6 x 6 I think (I've posted it already and forgot to measure it).

I glued 12 butterflies from the ~{Mini Butterflies}~ onto the canvas and once dry, gave the whole lot a coat of gesso. Once that was dry I painted the whole thing with DecoArt White Chalk Finish Paint and left it to dry.

I took 4 more butterflies and painted and blended them with the chalk paint and DecoArt Fluid Acrylic in Cobalt Teal.

Next I used Gelatos to lightly colour the canvas and the edges of the butterflies, blending them with a finger. I then used a text stamp randomly on the butterflies.

Finally I used a stamp and white embossing powder on the blue butterflies before gluing them to the canvas.
