No Place Like Home

This weeks blogs focuses on the September Colour Theme, I decided to feature the colours in a tag embellished with one of the cute houses from Tando's whimsicle set.

Using the light teal as a base colour, the background was created using gesso and teal mixed to give a patchy effect to the colour. On to this I have stamped with white gesso, defining the stamped images with a white pen and adding details.

The coral and lilac tones complimented the house style and act as a good contrast fom the background colour. Using DecoArt Weathered Wood, I created a crackle effect finished with a layer of white chalk paint which was then rubbed back in areas to further the distressed look, revealing more of the bright colours underneath.

Edging the house in burnt umber aides the cartoon effect look and makes the piece pop against the background.
