Tag week

Hi, Carol with you today with my tag created for this Tando Creative Tag week.

I love playing with tags, they are just the right size to try out new colours and new techniques and then be useful afterwards…

Here is my tag:-

The base is a normal tag, but, there are a great range of tags in the Tando retail store.  Using a stencil I applied texture paste to the bare tag…once dry I added DecoArt paints….added some more stencilling and doodling….a mini owl was painted and doodled and a mini flower was also added….a happy birthday stamped sentiment finished it off.

Don't forget to pop back during the week for some more tag fun…

Fragile Tag

Hi! Dana here today sharing the piece I created for the Tag theme this week. I cut a tag from a piece of Tando packaging and then applied DecoArt Gesso over the surface with a spatula for a textured finish. Once the gesso was dry, I added color to the tag with Gelatos.

Then, I placed the Giovanna Doilie Stencil over the tag and traced around it with a black pen. Next, I stamped a woman into the center of the stenciled design. I colored the stenciled design and the stamped image with watercolors. I further embellished the tag with two painted leaves from the Leaf Branch with 3 Loose Leaves. I stamped a sentiment, added some doodles and tape to the tag, and then attached a tassel to the top to finish.

You can find the chipboard I used for this project, and a wonderful selection of DecoArt products, in the Tando Creative Retail Store. We'd love to see your take on this color palette! Share your work with us in Tando's Creative Zone on Facebook.

'Tag It' week with Nikki

Good morning everyone,

Here at Tando Creative HQ we are really excited to announce our new design team member Nikki Killinger:

Hi everyone, I'm very excited to be a part of this amazing team, and was honoured to be asked.  I love everything mixed media and painty, and have been crafting since an early age.  I can't wait to get stuck in and share lots of projects with you.  I especially love Tando products, they are well made, well thought out, and take a lot of mediums beautifully.  There is such a range too!  I don't think I have a particular style, as I am slightly eclectic in how my makes turn out, and I love anything from Shabby Chic to Steampunk, and even to the downright strange!

We're so looking forward to seeing Nikki's stunning projects and do look out for her excellent shows on Hochanda TV.

Hi all, I'm very happy to be sharing my first project today.

I started by painting the background of my main tag with a sponge, in Americana chalk paints.  I added a layer of crackle paint around the tag, varying the coverage on each edge, and over a small tag.

There is a lot of paint on top of paint here, I first gave the crackle on the tags a 'wash' of prussian blue hue, and quinacridone gold.  Then various colours were 'dripped' down the length of the tag, including metallic peacock pearl, venetian gold, chocolate and raw umber.

I stencilled with chalk paint through Andy's Industrial Elements stencil, in lace chalk paint for the main tag and raw umber on the small.  A 'rusty' tando screw was added for detail to the small tag.  More gold was added to the edges of the tag, and then slightly diluted raw umber, and the circles stamped with a bottle lid.

The feather was treated in the same way, I painted a background onto card, stamped in raw umber, and coloured with the co-ordinating metallic colours.

My little tag was glued with 3d glue above the feather, and I thought the 'air mail' was appropriate.

I hope you like it, I'd love to know what you think.

Best Wishes,
Nikki

Tags challenge by Dee

Hi everyone and Happy New Year to you all!! I hope you all had a great Christmas.
I was lucky enough to have some time over the break to be able to do a bit
of crafty surfing on the internet. I visited France Papillon's site
where I got the inspiration for this tag.
I used modeling paste through Neil walker mask and then the distressed
sequin mini stencil on a Tando mixed media tag. Black Gesso
was used over the entire tag and knocked back before it
dried. I then introduced white gesso until I was
happy with the results.
Next was the colour which was Lyndy's stamp gang magicals used with
crackle glaze and water a slight bit of gesso. This was applied
to the tag followed by spattering of white Gesso. The same technique
was applied to the smaller tag.
I stamped the fish onto the smaller tag and onto matt paper which I then
coloured in using zig clean coloured pens this was finished with a
coat of wax. I stamped a stampendous script to opposite corners
and onto craft card.
I attached cogs to the right hand corner and attached all the metal
embellishments.

I hope you have all enjoyed my post
and I hope you will all let me know what you think
Cheers Dee x

January Colour Theme

Hello and a Happy New Year from me!  For my 1st post of the year I am working with  this months colour theme.  After our lovely DT member Carol made a series with her colour themes last year I thought I would do something similar.  I am going to use the pretty *scalloped banner* every month.  Then I will end up with a lovely (hopefully) string to put up in my craft room.  Here is the 1st one...

As we are still in the throws of winter I have created a wintery scene using some *snowflakes* and a very pretty *fir tree*.  Just had to add a tassel :D

Thank you taking a look, Hugs , Karen xxx

Color Theme - Love Arch

Happy New Year! Dana here today sharing the arch I created for the Color Theme this week. I am still in shock over the passing of George Michael. He was one of my favorite artists and I'm mourning this loss by listening to his catalog. I used some of his song lyrics on this piece.

I started this piece with one layer of the Arabian-Style Layered Arch Frame. I painted the frame with DecoArt Primary Cyan Fluid Acrylic, and then added a top coat of DecoArt Gold Interference for a subtle shimmer. Once the frame was dry, I backed it with a piece of vellum and then a piece of patterned paper.

I embellished the arch with flowers, ribbon, lace, patterned paper, and a resin angel. I distressed the frame with white paint and then added a decorative border with dimensional paint and a teardrop rhinestone. I added lyrics to finish the piece.

You can find the chipboard I used for this project, and a wonderful selection of DecoArt products, in the Tando Creative Retail Store. We'd love to see your take on this color palette! Share your work with us in Tando's Creative Zone on Facebook.
