June Colour Theme - Tag Book - Fiona Randall

 

 

Morning all.

 I'm here with a Tag Book for the June Colour theme.

 What a fabulous theme of colours and so me.

 

This is the colour theme for June.

 

 

I have made a Tag Book using the fabulous Tando Grey Board Substrates.

 

 

This is the front cover shot.

The Inner covers are further along in the post.

 

 The front and back covers were created using Tando Grey Board Tags size 8. Covered in papers from my stash to tie in with the colour theme. Then a collage of Butterflies and ephemera added to complete with inking around the edges.

 

Now onto the inner pages of the book.

 

 

These were created  from one sheet of 12x12 scrapbook paper.

Using a size 8 tag as a template it was traced around 4 times onto the paper lined up together to create a concertina fold.

 I then placed a template from the A5 Insert Template set on the bottom and traced around.

So once cut out and folded it created the pockets for the tag inserts as shown. 

 

I then traced around a size 6 Grey Board tag onto white cardstock x4 and cut out. These were then decorated with collage elements and papers. The edges inked and string added to finish.

June Colour Theme Tag

Hi there!
The colour theme for June are these gorgeous colours:

I collected together some materials in these colours and grabbed one of the large size 9 tags. I started off with a base coat of Whisper chalk paint with a little bit of the honey colour brushed through it. Then I stippled, mono-printed and stencilled with the darker colours to make my background. I used some of the Tando mini stencils for this.

I was starting to get some Mediterranean vibes so I thought one of France’s lizard stamps from Creepers and Crawlers would work well here. I stamped him with Versamark and sprinkled a few different sand coloured embossing powders over before heat setting. Then I cut a piece of the ‘wire’ extra thins and coated it in a verdigris powder (Wow Sea Of Tranquility by Seth Apter) so that it looked like a bit of old wire fencing.

Crackle week - 'Safe' by Nikki

Morning everyone,

It's my turn this week to do a crackle piece, and I made this tag.

I took a Tando tag and painted in random colours, red, yellow and orange all over, then spritzed with white mister to knock the colours back.  On top of this I put a layer of Crackle glaze.

I stencilled in modelling paste on the heart with the grid stencil, and painted the heart red.  I used the Chalk Crackle medium next, and then a layer of chalk paint to bring out the crackle.

The book plate was simply embossed with mixed media embossing powder, and the word 'safe' taken from the dictionary and framed.  I used Heavy Gel medium to glue all my pieces together, and give the word a protective coating inside the plate.

I went back to the tag once the crackle was dry, and used green patina antiquing cream to age it and show the crackle, and then used mixed media transfers to add detail.  Sometimes I like a colour change!

Heat embossed tag

Hi there!

It's heat embossing week and I would like to show you how I made this embossed tag. I am slightly addicted to heat embossing - I put it on practically everything I make! I'm a massive Seth Apter fan, and he uses it in many different ways. I've used some of his techniques here.

I took a small Tando tag and undercoated it in DecoArt Timeless Chalk paint, then a wash of Burnt Umber fluid acrylic to give a quick background.

Then I stamped over a script stamp with Red Geranium Archival, and one of Seth's stamps in black. The background will hardly show - it just gives another dimension to the top layers.

I used an embossing pen to draw a few random scribbles on the tag, and sprinkled on some chunky gold & white embossing powder by Cosmic Shimmer. I then set this with the heat tool.

Then I swiped the tag with Versamark and sprinkled a layer of Stampendous clear chunky embossing enamel all over the tag. Before you start heating, get a few things ready to sprinkle into the clear enamel while it's hot. I used some Frantage flakes and glitter from Stampendous Encrusted Jewel kits. When the enamel is nice and hot (you can see it moving slightly), remove the heat tool and sprinkle a few flakes or glitter onto the tag. You can use you fingers, some tweezers, or a tiny spoon. Re heat, trying to keep the tool directly above so that the flakes don't get blown about.

Then I repeated this process but with various different embossing powders. You can concentrate different colours in one place, or go for an all over sprinkle. Sometimes you can see patterns develop in the background, and add more colour to those areas. I used Stampendous Seasonings and Aged Scarlet, Emerald Creek Baked Texture Patina Green and Rocky Road, and Andy Skinner's Funky Cold Patina.

Then I swiped the Versamark pad around the edge of the tag and edged it with more Rocky Road. I added another layer of clear chunky, then finally embossed another of Seth's mini stamps EM45 into the hot enamel, inking it first with Versamark. Always use rubber stamps for embossing into hot powder, as the clear acrylic ones will melt!

Embossing powder is a very versatile medium, and can be used in many different ways, as well as for stamping. I hope you feel inspired to have a play!

Anything Goes Week - Face your Fears by Nikki K.

Hope you are having a good week.

Today I am sharing a tag I made in monochrome colours, which is unusual for me, but I loved how this one turned out, and have done some more since.

I put some modelling paste through a stencil, and then painted the whole tag in grey.  White Antiquing Cream was added over the top, and wiped back.

I added some stamping with a background stamp of my choice, you could use any.

I put some modelling paste on to the feathers, and painted them black.  The words were stamped in Archival onto textured card, distressed at the edges, and cut and added to the tag.  The whole tag was edged in Distress ink.

A 'washer' was rusted with paint and added to the hole, and a nice piece of rough ribbon threaded through.

Anything goes week- rusty tag by Monika

Hi!

I hope you are well.

It's anything goes week and I have decided to make a quick and easy tag as my inspiration for you :)

I'm using Andy Skinner Tagtastic 1 kit by Tando

Firstly I have painted the background using brayer and Decoart medium acrylic paints in Carbon Black, Metallic Silver, Paynes Grey and Quinacridone Gold

Once it was dry I have randomly stamped the background using black archival ink and embossed the ''Have Faith'' sign on the side.

Using puncher I have made two holes in the heart embellishment, I have also distressed the greyboard around the holes a little, then painted all over with Metallic Silver paint, stamped and added few washes to make it look rusty. Before attaching it to the base I have  wrapped it with rusty wire.

September colour theme - Brenda

Welcome. As the days grow shorter and the hot, sultry temperatures we've had this summer fade we start to see the signs of autumn appear. Our colour palette reminded me of those soft grey mornings with the dew on the grass and perhaps some light fog or low cloud. It was not only the colours but the depth and layers in the picture that caught my eye too .......

 ..... and this is what appeared.

For this project I used a Tando mdf tag,  Tando Thins Textures 1 and Mini Leaves 3 embellishments. I also used leaf and foliage stamps from my supplies. The colour is mostly DecoArt media acrylics with some archival and distress inks added in.

I also grunged up and added some natural elements to give a focal point.

Spring like Colour theme this week

Hi it's Brenda back with you today. You know when I started this project there was still snow on the ground so when I went back to look at the colours to use I thought how warming they were and very Springlike too. What do you think?

Here is my colour palette for this project.

Seal a size 9 tag with gesso and take a stencil and apply white crackle paste through it and leave to dry.

Mix a deep burgundy colour, made a watery wash and dip, spritz and dab before heat drying.

Then mix the rose pink colour and use a natural sponge to daub on some colour.

Added white to the rose to make the lighter pink and dribble, spritze and daub to get most of the tag coloured up.

Here I took my cue from the photo and having mixed the yellow I wanted I used my finger to apply it randomly around the edges not pressing too hard but rubbing my finger over the textures that were forming.

I finally got to make the orange and again looking at the raindrops I made a watery wash and splattered it over - another messy stage and not a good looking finish either but hold on (sorry I forgot to take a photo of that step) .......... 

I cleaned up the mess on my craft mat and foil palettes ....

.... mixed some watery white and just kept dipping, drying, dipping, spritzing etc until I was happier with the background again.

Now to grunge it up a bit, I mixed the dark burgundy which actually came out more as a reddy brown and dripped watery washes through the stenciled image and dried it again. I also rubbed a small amount around the edges to start to frame the tag. This helps bring the eye into the centre of the piece again.

At this point I remembered I was going to include some stamping but thought this might make it too busy so I grabbed a word label and painted it and found some glass cabochons (taking my cue from the water on the petal in the flower again) and glued them to some text paper .....

.... and when dry painted the backs with yellow to bring some colour to them then added them to the background.

The label I stamped and gave a coat of satin varnish and added a couple of brads to finish it off.

At the end I had great issues with the contrasts and shadowing of the stencilled shape and I'm still not totally happy with it but at the moment it's as good as it gets. It's been repainted a couple of times and I think I'm happier with it in real life, more than the photos so please bare with it. At least the colours still have a bit of a resemblance with the original colour palette lol.
