September colour theme - Brenda

Welcome. As the days grow shorter and the hot, sultry temperatures we've had this summer fade we start to see the signs of autumn appear. Our colour palette reminded me of those soft grey mornings with the dew on the grass and perhaps some light fog or low cloud. It was not only the colours but the depth and layers in the picture that caught my eye too .......

 ..... and this is what appeared.

For this project I used a Tando mdf tag,  Tando Thins Textures 1 and Mini Leaves 3 embellishments. I also used leaf and foliage stamps from my supplies. The colour is mostly DecoArt media acrylics with some archival and distress inks added in.

I also grunged up and added some natural elements to give a focal point.

Leaves and Frames

Hi!  It's Monday and the beginning of another theme.  This week we are mixing it up using leaves with frames (both Tando) .  Here is my contribution...

I have used one of the *PRINTER TRAYS* for my project and added a variety of leaves.  We have a lot of choice available for anyone who loves nature!  For my printer tray I chose the *LEAF FLOURISH* to go over the top edge. Them a few leaves from the *MINI LEAVES 3* and of course a tree from the *FIR TREES SET* .  They have all been painted in various greens and then had a thin layer of  *CRACKLE GLAZE* added. To add a bit more interest I have included some bits from a pine cone and some dry moss.

Color Challenge - Great Dreams ATC

Happy New Year Tando fans! Dana here today sharing the Artist Trading Card I created for the Color Theme this week. I was inspired by both the beautiful color pallet and photograph of flowers on the inspiration board.

I covered an Artist Trading Card with a piece of dark denim. I then applied whipped spackle over the Giovanna Doilie Stencil to add a layer of texture. I topped the design with a white vellum flower and two small leaves, which I colored with chalk ink, from the Mini Leaves 3 set. I finished this card with a Mini Butterfly and a rub-on sentiment.

Fairy Door Arch with Dana

Hi Tando fans! Dana here today sharing a Fairy Door Arch that I created with bit and pieces of Tando goodies. I had such a blast putting this piece together! This fun arch brings a bit of magic into my scrap space! I started with an inner layer from the Arabian-Style Layered Arch Frame.

I tore a brown paper bag into strips, crinkled and then twisted the strips that I laid over the arch. I added some twists and turns to emulate knots. I then painted the arch with a coat of opaque medium before painting with Tattered Angels Espresso Bean Glimmer Glam. Once the arch was dry, i highlighted the "bark" with Black Soot Distress Ink and Viva Deco Inka-Gold.

I created a small nature scene at the base of the arch with a piece of Grass Flexistrip, a portion of a Leaf Branch with Cut-Out Leaves and a Mini Leaf (Mini Leaves 3). I painted all the chipboard with Ranger Distress Paint. I topped the chipboard with mushroom stickers, pink flowers and a plastic deer.

I added a small cluster of flowers to the top of the arch using the remaining portion of the Leaf Branch with Cut-Out Leaves as a base.

Fall Tag

Hi Tando fans! Dana here today sharing a Fall themed tag. I used Distress Ink with the Tree and Leaves 3-part Mask to build a Fall scene. I added a piece of Flexistrip Grass and some Mini Leaves, that I colored with acrylic paint, over the design. I finished the tag by adding some glitter flourishes with the Long Flourish Mask to represent a cool breeze.

Art ATC

For my ATC I've done one a bit differently to how I usually do them.

I started off sticking some plasterers tape, book pages and texture paste through the ~{Dotted Star Mask}~ randomly on the ~{ATC}~ then gave everything a good thick coat of gesso. The best thing about the ATC's is that you can load them up and they don't curl up like card does.

I then added little hints of colour over the base using the Pitt Big Brush Markers, my newest love.

I've painted 2 leaves from ~{Mini Leaves 2}~ and ~{Mini Leaves 3}~ and a heart from  ~{Mini Hearts}~, then dabbed white acrylic paint over the top to make them paler.

I then stuck flowers onto the ATC with gem middles and added lots of white paint over them. Once everything was dry (and it took a while as I'd really put it on thick) I added a couple of drops of spray ink using the stem of the spray and added a tiny bit of water to spread the colour out a bit.

Finally I added a little bit more pen and blended it out and some lettering.
