Colour Theme Week

Hi folks,

I have been sooooooooo looking forward to this months colour theme......

and decided to go large ish.............

........and had a play with the gorgeous Noteholder/Pen Pot set........

I started by assembling everything as per the very clear instructions provided with the kit, the edging pieces were not attached at this point as I wanted to paint them in different colours to the pieces they would be attached to.  I chose to glue the 2 base units together to create one large unit but you could keep them separate if you wished.  A base coat of Decoart gesso was added to all elements once the glue was completely dry. 2 coats of acrylic were applied and then some stenciling was done on the outer base and drawer fronts using the Diamond Circle mask.

I built up 2 handles for the drawers using inchies, small circles from the centre of the round grid and hearts from the heart grab bag.  Each handle consisting of 1 inchie, 2 small circles and 1 heart.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm! I couldn't cope with the thought of ditching the waste pieces from the kit so I had a play with them and came up with some washi tape holders............

Decorated to match the original make using mini flowers, a heart from the grab bag (as before), the dotted star mask, the sunburst mask, and the hearts background mask.

I really could have gone to town with the right hand one, which I think looks like a bed! I could see lace, sparkle and bedding - maybe a pin-cushion of sorts - let your imagination run riot too!!

If you fancy playing along with any of our monthly themes please feel free to share your makes using the linky tool at the top of the page. You could be in with a chance of winning some fab Tando goodies as any makes linked will be entered in a monthly prize draw.

Many thanks for popping by today,

April Colour Theme with Dawn

Hi All,

what a fab colour theme this month, bright and fun for sure.

I decided to have a play with the new MDF Storage Box, using 3 of the colours from the chart..............

I have to admit to never having tackled a project of this size before so I was feeling a little daunted by it to start with! Making the choice to keep it simple worked wonders and this ended up being so much fun to do.

I started by constructing the box (it comes flat packed), using a good PVA, as per the instructions provided, it was then given a white gesso primer before the green base coat was added.

The Tornado stencil fitted brilliantly on the sides so I used this in alternating colours around the box and added some coordinating hearts to provide some focal points. The lid was decorated accordingly to match and the Dotted Star stencil provided the corner detailing.

Here is what I used................

Grab Bag of Hearts

MDF Storage Box

A Skinner Stencil/Mask - Tornado

Mask - Dotted Star

If you fancy joining in with any of this months themes please add your work through the link at the top of the page to be in with a chance of winning a prize in the April Challenge.

Many thanks for popping by and leaving a comment if you feel you would like to.

Hugs

Free For All Week - Butterfly Wing ATC

Hi Tando fans! Dana here today sharing an Artist Trading Card that I created for the Free For All theme this week. I found this gorgeous butterfly wing in my garden and thought it would look fantastic on an ATC.

I used the fabulous Dotted Star Mask, designed by Kaz, first with a black marker and then with light molding paste that I tinted gray. I moved the mask slightly before applying the paste to create a shadow effect for the background of my card. Once the paste was dry, I colored the card with ink, mist and gelatos. I sealed the butterfly wing to my card with a thick coat of crackle glaze. While the glaze was still wet, I pressed the wire circle and rub-on onto the card to finish my piece.

Black and Grey - ATC with Dana

Hi Tando fans! Dana here today sharing an ATC for the Black and Grey theme this week. I covered an Artist Trading Card with several layers of chalkboard paint and then added the dot pattern using the Dotted Star Mask. I added a Mini Flower, that I colored with markers and glaze, to the lower corner to help balance the embossed sentiment.

Thanks for stopping by today!

Art ATC

For my ATC I've done one a bit differently to how I usually do them.

I started off sticking some plasterers tape, book pages and texture paste through the ~{Dotted Star Mask}~ randomly on the ~{ATC}~ then gave everything a good thick coat of gesso. The best thing about the ATC's is that you can load them up and they don't curl up like card does.

I then added little hints of colour over the base using the Pitt Big Brush Markers, my newest love.

I've painted 2 leaves from ~{Mini Leaves 2}~ and ~{Mini Leaves 3}~ and a heart from  ~{Mini Hearts}~, then dabbed white acrylic paint over the top to make them paler.

I then stuck flowers onto the ATC with gem middles and added lots of white paint over them. Once everything was dry (and it took a while as I'd really put it on thick) I added a couple of drops of spray ink using the stem of the spray and added a tiny bit of water to spread the colour out a bit.

Finally I added a little bit more pen and blended it out and some lettering.

Anything Goes - Mini People Dominoes

Hi Tando fans! Dana here today sharing a set of dominoes for the "Anything Goes" theme this week. If I had a penny for every time my husband said "That's what she said," I'd be a very rich woman! I thought it would be fun to alter some dominoes, one for him and one for me. The NEW Mini People were the perfect size for these Straight Dominoes.

I embellished the background of the dominoes with the NEW Long Flourish Mask and the Dotted Star Mask. I added some Mini Stars that I painted a bright yellow for a fun pop of color and some strips of clear patterned washi tape.

Thanks for stopping by today! Be sure to stop back tomorrow. We're sharing a special project created by the mega talented Neil Walker!

Tree and Leaves Mask Journal Page

For my Free For All slot, I've used my ~{Tree and Leaves Mask}~ again:

The background has the following masks over a painty base:
~{Dotted Star}~
~{Have Your Say}~ and
~{Garden With Watering Can}~, then I inked through the tree part and mixed acrylic paint with texture paste for the leaves and the circles on the trees.

I've added doodles and shading all over the page, washi tape and a computer generated quote.

I then stamped a few heads to make my nuts!
