Color Theme - Whimsical House Mixed Media Board

Whimsical House Mixed Media Board by Dana Tatar

Hi friends! Dana here today sharing my take on the Color Theme this week. I was so inspired by the piece Carol shared on Monday that I decided to use a house as the focal point on my project. I have new houses on the brain because I just found out that I will be moving this coming June. I know time between now and my move will fly by, so I'm trying to create as many lasting memories as I can where I'm at before I have to leave.

I painted up a Mixed Media Board, Whimsical House (Set 1), Mini Flower, and the Arthur Numbers 5700, which is my current address, with DecoArt acrylic paint. I also used a piece of Grass Flexistrip, that I decided to leave raw for contrast. After I assembled my scene, I added colorful dots to the piece with the tip of my paintbrush handle.

I really love this color palette, especially the pop of purple, which I happily used to paint the door on this piece. I had painted my front door a much bolder purple when I moved in to my current house a couple years ago, and was just recently asked to repaint it an approved color by the neighborhood Home Owners Association.

You can find the products I used for this project in the Tando Creative Retail Store. We'd love to see your creativity! Share your work with us in Tando's Creative Zone on Facebook.

Use The Packaging

I'm kicking off this week and we are using the packaging that comes with the Tando goodies. I've used the black card that you get in the stencil sets for this card:

1. Cut the black card too size, use glitter medium through the -{Leaves 1 Stencil}- and leave to dry.

2. Use glitter medium through the -{Flourish Stencil}- onto the card blank, wiping it clean between uses so you don't get it where you don't want it.

3. Paint the butterfly and flowers from -{Mini Butterflies}- and -{Mini Flowers}- with acrylic paint, adding highlights as you go.

4. While everything dries, cut some patterned paper to size and use a border punch.

**The papers had the word 'Oh' on it, so I've used that in a circle punch and the 'Pretty' was in some coordinating stickers.**

5. Finish the whole thing off with doodles and glitter glue dots.

**All of the Tando products used here, plus a couple of others, will soon be on sale as card making kits from the Tando Store.**

Owl Birthday Card

I made this card for our colour theme:

I mixed some of the ~{White Modelling Paste}~ with 2 drops of ~{Titan Buff Fluid Acrylic}~ then put it through the ~{Mini Brick Stencil}~.

I painted 2 of the ~{Mini Owls}~ , a leaf from ~{Mini Leaves 2}~ and a flower from the ~{Mini Flowers}~ with acrylic paint. All of these and other minis are reduced in price at the moment ~{here}~.

Once everything was dry, I used watercolour pencils and paint pens to add details, before finishing up with a stamped greeting.

3D Week: Frosty Morning Arch

Hi friends! Dana here today sharing an arch I embellished with some dimensional elements for the 3D theme this week. The weather is turning here in the States. The leaves are falling from the tree, the mornings are frosty, and the color is slowly leaving the landscape. The only happy colors I have in my yard are from my roses that are doing their best to hang on and the occasional cardinal. This arch was inspired by the view from my front window.

I started this piece by outlining a tree pattern using the tree stencil from the Trees and Leaves 3-Part Stencil Set onto an inner piece from the Arabian Style Layered Arch Frame. I then tore up and twisted pieces of a brown paper bag to make dimensional tree branches that I glued over the stenciled tree pattern. Once the glue was dry I used acrylic paints and glazes to paint the tree, the background of the arch and the other pieces of chipboard I added to this piece.

I added a piece of Fence Flexistrip to the bottom of the arch. (This is the only chipboard from Tando that is flexible like this. It is great to bend and wrap around projects.) I topped the fence with a chilly rhinestone gust of wind and some Mini Flowers.

You can find the pieces I used for this project and more in the Tando Creative Retail Store! We'd love to see what you create for our 3D Challenge! To be in with a chance of winning some great Tando goodies of your choice, please make a piece based on our weekly themes and link your project, not just your blog, using the inlinkz tool located at the top of the Tando Blog. You don't have to use any Tando product, but, if you do, you will be entered into the draw twice! There are no limits to how many times you enter, however, we do request that you only enter your piece for 5 challenges. We look forward to seeing your creations!

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Black and Grey - ATC with Dana

Hi Tando fans! Dana here today sharing an ATC for the Black and Grey theme this week. I covered an Artist Trading Card with several layers of chalkboard paint and then added the dot pattern using the Dotted Star Mask. I added a Mini Flower, that I colored with markers and glaze, to the lower corner to help balance the embossed sentiment.
