Sparkles Week - Mini Winter Home Arch Set

Hi! Dana here today sharing the mini Winter home arches I created for the Sparkles theme this week. These small houses are a made from the inner cut arches from the Triple Arch Layered Frame. I love to use the inner cut pieces from Tando designs for additional projects. This layered frame comes with 9 inner cut arches. I had so much fun creating my original mini home arch a couple weeks ago, that I created more for the season in a similar style. I crafted two different styles of homes, one single layered with the smaller inner cut, and two layered arches using both sizes of inner cut arches.

I used DecoArt acrylic paint to add color to the arches, plus a Mini Holly and/or Mini Bell, an Arthur Number, and a small door from a Mini Beach Hut. After gluing all the pieces together, I brushed on a layer of clear crackle paint. I embellished the edges of this arch with Stampendous Spoonful of Snow for a frosty, sparkly finish.

Here's my original mini Winter home arch.

You can find the products I used for this project in the Tando Creative Retail Store. We'd love to see your creativity! Share your work with us in Tando's Creative Zone on Facebook.

Embossing Week- Mini Winter Home Arch

Winter Home Arch by Dana Tatar for Tando Creative

Hi! Dana here today sharing the Winter home arch I created for the Embossing theme this week. This small arch is one of the inner cut arches from the Triple Arch Layered Frame. I love to use the inner cut pieces from Tando designs for additional projects. This layered frame comes with 9 inner cut arches, and I'm looking forward to creating a series of mini home arches for the season in a similar style.

I used DecoArt acrylic paint to add color to the arch, plus a Mini Holly, an Arthur Number, and a small door from a Mini Beach Hut. After gluing all the pieces together, I brushed on a layer of clear crackle paint. I embellished the edges of this arch with Stampendous Spoonful of Snow for a frosty finish.

Color Theme - Whimsical House Mixed Media Board

Whimsical House Mixed Media Board by Dana Tatar

Hi friends! Dana here today sharing my take on the Color Theme this week. I was so inspired by the piece Carol shared on Monday that I decided to use a house as the focal point on my project. I have new houses on the brain because I just found out that I will be moving this coming June. I know time between now and my move will fly by, so I'm trying to create as many lasting memories as I can where I'm at before I have to leave.

I painted up a Mixed Media Board, Whimsical House (Set 1), Mini Flower, and the Arthur Numbers 5700, which is my current address, with DecoArt acrylic paint. I also used a piece of Grass Flexistrip, that I decided to leave raw for contrast. After I assembled my scene, I added colorful dots to the piece with the tip of my paintbrush handle.

I really love this color palette, especially the pop of purple, which I happily used to paint the door on this piece. I had painted my front door a much bolder purple when I moved in to my current house a couple years ago, and was just recently asked to repaint it an approved color by the neighborhood Home Owners Association.

Embossed Christmas ATC

Hi friends! Dana here today sharing an Artist Trading Card I created for the Embossing theme this week. I pressed an ATC in a checkered embossing folder for a fun textured base and then primed the card with a coat of DecoArt White Gesso. I then added color, with a distressed layer of DecoArt English Red Oxide Antiquing Cream and a layer of DecoArt Gold Interference for a subtle shimmer. I added a pop of bright green to the card by mixing Stampendous Hot Lime Fragments into DecoArt Matte Medium and spreading it on with a spatula. Before the medium dried I pressed in several gold sequins.

To embellish the top of the card, I painted a Mini Book Plate with DecoArt Carbon Black Fluid Acrylic, then backed the book plate with a scrap of green stripe ticking, and added the number "25," from the Arthur Number Set, which I painted with DecoArt Cadmium Red Fluid Acrylic and a top coat of DecoArt Liquid Glass. I added leaves, a flower, a pair of decorative brads, and a sticker sentiment to fill in the design. I finished this card with a dry brushing of DecoArt Titanium White Fluid Acrylic.

You can find the chipboard I used for this project, and a wonderful selection of DecoArt and Stampendous products, in the Tando Creative Retail Store.

Anything Goes - Mini Heart Canvas

Hi friends! Dana here today sharing the 3x3 canvas I created for the Anything Goes theme this week. This mini canvas was the perfect size to display the Hearts and Arthur Numbers from the Tando Mini Range. I was able to alter this canvas quickly, but this piece was still made with love! I like using these small canvases for gift toppers instead of a bow.

You can find the pieces I used for this canvas in the Tando Creative Retail Store! We'd love to see what you create for our Anything Goes challenge! To be in with a chance of winning some great Tando goodies of your choice, please make a piece based on our weekly themes and link your project, not just your blog, using the inlinkz tool located at the top of the Tando Blog. Book Cover Week - Wonky Street Chipboard Book

Hi Tando fans! Dana here today sharing a colorful chipboard book for the Book Cover theme this week. This book was super fun to put together! It feels great to finally finish this book! (I had the cover complete back in May!) I'm ready to move onto this dreamy street! Who wants to come with?!

I paired Susan K. Weckesser whimsical patterned paper and stamps with the Wonky Street Book Cover Kit designed by Neil Walker. I painted the cover with Ranger acrylic paint and added some textured designs with the Susan K. Weckesser A Little Bit Washi Stamp Set. I secured the houses to the book cover with adhesive foam for added dimension. I added numbers to each house with digits from the Arthur Number Set. The Mini People were the perfect size for this piece. I colored them with purple mist. The sentiment from Susan's What's Up Gnomey? Stamp Set was the perfect finishing touch.

I used twine and a Secret Belgian Binding technique to secure the front and back covers to the spine. I learned this technique from a 3-part video series that I found HERE.

I stitched three sections of colored cardstock and patterned paper into the binding of the book creating a total of 30 pages, which should be plenty for me to document all the moves I make as a military wife!

You can find this chipboard and more in the Tando Creative Retail Store! We'd love to have you join the Book Cover Challenge! June Color Challenge - Beach Hut Mixed Media Board

Hi Tando fans! Dana here today sharing the beach themed mixed media board I created for the Color Challenge this week. I used Ranger paint dabbers to add color to a Mixed Media Board. I then added a fun image and some dimensional paint. I used the same paint dabbers on a Mini Beach Hut and number from the Arthur Number Set. I attached the hut to the board and finished it with a touch of glitter. I'm ready for dinner on the beach!

Deer To My Heart ATC

Hi Tando fans! Dana here today sharing a fun ATC that I created with some odds and ends that were laying about my craft space. I started with a blank Artist Trading Card and then covered it with a scrap of denim. I spread whipped spackle over the Giovanna Doily Mask to add both some texture and a beautiful print to the card. I painted a heart from the Grab Bag of Hearts with dimensional glitter paint and then backed it with a piece of lace. The heart was a fun piece to use as a base for embellishments! I painted a number 2 from the Arthur Number Set with yellow acrylic paint for a pop of color. I finished this piece with a resin flower and some letter stickers.

You can find these products and more in the Tando Creative Retail Store. We'd love to have you join our Paint It Challenge!
