Resist Week - Nikki K

Morning all,

This week is resist week at Tando, and my colleagues have been posting their fab makes already.

Today I have a little set of 3 ATC's to share.

First step is to take 3 Tando white ATC Coins and paint them in Serene Chalk Paint.

I thought I would try something different, and took some Tando stencils and Resist Paste, and used my finger to rub the resist paste through the stencils.  This worked quite well, and left the pattern on the coins slightly raised in resist.

Next step is to carefully paint over the resist with Everlasting Chalk Paint.  You need to be light in touch and have enough paint on the brush so as not to disturb the resist or smudge it.  Let this dry naturally.

You can either then heat the resist slightly, and rub with a piece of kitchen towel, or take a baby wipe and wait until it slightly dries out, and then rub the resist gently away.  These made some fab quick backgrounds.

I used some Mixed Media Transfers to add detail, these can be easier to use than stamps over texture or bumps, and look fab once on.  To age the coins I used a wash of Raw Umber and Paynes Grey mixed, very watered down.  Let this dry naturally.  Add some distress ink around the edges of the coins (black soot).

You can cover in a matt varnish if you wish, to protect and give another layer.  These look cute as coins, or could be made into a larger piece of art.... I may be back with these!

Kindest Wishes,

Nikki.
