Fragile Heart Tag

Hi there! Hannah here with my very first post for Tando!
I am so excited to be sharing my designs with you all and hope you enjoy the journey with me.

This weeks theme is "Tags"

Using a Tando tag, I have built up layers of DecoArt Media Fluid Acrylic Paints and crackle medium Weather Wood to create a really distressed and grungy background.

Work up from the base layer, from darkest to lighter colours. With each added layer, rub areas back to reveal the layers underneath.

Add detail in the form of stamped images and greyboard bolts, treated with a rusty paint effect in keeping with the design.

Create your central motief using a greyboard heart loaded with DecoArt Dimensional Effects paste dry brushed with Metallic Gold to highlight the texture.

The tag is assembled and wrapped in Rusty Wire to finish.

Thanks for stopping by!

Tando Tags

Hi folks Dee here with my post for Tando's Anything Goes week
I have a simple Size 10 Tando Tag for you today that is very easy to do but has very
dramatic results.

  • Triple emboss the circles with both clear and gold embossing enamel using Frances Amonite stamp once cooled put crackle paste round one side do this to 2 different sizes circles allow to dry.

  • Place Andy's stencil over the tag and put crackle paste through the stencil and allow to dry

  • Round the edges of the tag take a pallet knife and scrape on your sand paste.

  • Once all is dry sprinkle the magicals over the tag and then spritz with water do one colour at a time repeat on the embossed circles.
  • Paint the edges of the tag with raw umber and follow with the quinacridone gold.

  • Brush some building wax over the crackle paste on the circles to make them pop.

Attach your ribbon and a gem or two and your done. I hope you enjoyed this tag and as always I look forward to hearing what you think and if you are going to try it?
Cheers Dee x

Tag Week

Hello, Carol with you this lovely Bank Holiday Monday - the last Bank Holiday before Christmas!!!

This week our theme is "Tags" and here is my tag:-

The base is a tag from the pack of 5 long tags - this was painted using the media fluid range of acrylic paints from DecoArt.  The cogs and washers are from the Andy Skinner Industrial Elements set and have also been painted using the same colours…. a sentiment finished off my tag.

Do pop back during the week as we have posts every day this week and some fantastic tags.

3D kits with Lisa

Hi folks and welcome to my post for Tando Creative. This weeks theme is 3D kits and I chose the MDF birdhouse home kit to work with.

Here is what I did....

First, I painted all the pieces of the kit with DecoArt white gesso. I covered the H O M E letters with DecoArt crackle paste and the roof of each house with DecoArt texture sand paste and let everything dry.

I painted the four birdhouses with DecoArt Media acrylic paints. And let dry. I then used the distorted harlequin mask over the top.

I added some stamping using black ink.

I then applied black DecoArt Media Antiquing creme to the H O M E letters and adhered them to the birdhouses background.

Everything I have used is available on the Tando Website.

Thanks for popping by,
Toodles for now,
Lisa xxx

3D Skeleton Shrine

Hi! Dana here today sharing the Shrine I altered for the 3D theme this week. The holiday decorations have already hit the stores, so I thought it would be fun to get a bit of a head start on my Halloween crafting. I altered a shrine a couple weeks ago that was pretty and elegant (click HERE to see that piece), so I was ready for this project to be a little more frightful.

I started this project by priming both sides of all the pieces of the shrine with a white spray primer. Next, I spread DecoArt White Modelling Paste over the Stripes Mask onto the outer sides and roof of the shrine. Once the paste was dry, I sprayed the same pieces with a silver mist. Finally, I inked the pieces with several colors of chalk ink and assembled walls of the shrine, holding the pieces together with hot glue.

Next, I spritzed the inside of the shrine with yellow and black mist. I love the moldy looking result! I used hot glue to attach a skeleton, resin rose, and moss to the back wall of the shrine. I added some gold rhinestone trim around the base of the shrine.

I finished this piece by gluing on the roof. I embellished the roof with metallic sticker trim, more moss, and a brass cross that I distressed with Black Diamond ColoriQue.

You can find the products I used for this project in the Tando Creative Retail Store. We'd love to see your creativity! Share your work with us in Tando's Creative Zone on Facebook.

3D Week

This week we are highlighting 3D kits.  If you look around the website you will find there are a lot of them with varying themes......something for everyone!  But I also wanted to highlight Tando's workshops so the kit I have chosen to use is one that Di sometimes uses in her workshops so sadly it is not on general sale.  But it does give you an idea of the quality of Di's workshops.  Plus they are very chilled and full of laughter!!!

I live in Cornwall and the coast is a big part of my life....little cottages perched on rocks, smugglers caves and yellow sand!

So if you fancy having a lovely day out with like minded people look out for a workshop near you!

Hugs, Karen x

Wintry 'mixed media' canvas board

Hi Gez here, I am delighted to be back in the studio after a summer break with my family and itching to get creative again. I hope you have all been having a lovely summer too.

Today, I have a mixed media board to share with you. I was just so in the mood to make something wintry (see how I avoided the 'C' word.. hehe..

I created a painterly background using a [Mixed Media Board 74mm x 138mm] and [Media Fluid Acrylic paints] by DecoArt, the greyboards come in a pack of five.

Once the background was completely dried I went over selected parts of the [Snowflake Mask] with a baby wipe to remove some of the paint and let it dry again before applying paint splatters.

I stamped and embossed my chosen image onto the mixed media board and added a [snowflake] from the five pack of snowflakes that come in various sizes giving it a generous coating of [Frantage Jewel Kit glitter]

I hope you like my finished board. Thank you for calling and happy creating, Gez ♥

Anything Goes

Hi everyone Dee here with my latest post for the anything goes week
I hope you are all having a lovely summer and are getting a nice
break the weather has been a bit hit and miss but I am very
lucky to have been away twice.

I did this using Andy's new stamp set birds and bones from #Stampendous now available
from Di. I stamped the lovely Skeleton and poison words onto
tissue paper and using titan buff painted the reverse side.
I cut them out and placed to the side.

I soaked some mod rock in water for a couple of minutes, then
squeezed out the water and played it across a media board.
I heated up beeswax pellets and once melted I  started
to layer it onto the media board. I also used some
graphics 45 paper which I pushed into the warm wax
after the first coat. I continued to layer the wax till I
was happy using a mix of pan pastels and oil pastels
to create the burnt edges.
Once happy I placed the skeleton and poison words onto the warm wax
and gave a final coat to seal them. I pushed in a rusty washer & attached
rusty wire to the top. I was very pleased with the outcome looking
'Very Halloween' with the hint of the paper and the mesh from the
Mod Rock peeping through. I believe that you should achieve a
smooth finish with the wax but felt that the uneven finish was more
suitable for this piece 'nothing to do with being unable to achieve this'!
I hope you all have enjoyed my piece for you today and you can
see how versatile these Tando media boards & tags are
for all your mixed media art.

Please don't forget to let me know what you think!
Cheers Dee x

Imagine your worl of arts: Free project with Irit

Hello my dear crafty friends and welcome to my new Tando project.
This time I made a wall decoration on a base of Tando grid chipboard only.
No background chipboard or canvas or wooden piece is used and all Tando and other products were just collaged to make this piece as my tribute to all different arts.

Some of Tando products used here are retired and not in the shop (the music instruments on the background).
I added a few clay pieces that I made at home such as a violin, mask and frame.

Each and every piece was painted with different paint to get this worn look.

Anything Goes - Teacher's Pet Mixed Media Board

Teacher's Pet School Days Mixed Media Board by Dana Tatar for Tando Creative

Hi! Dana here today sharing the Mixed Media Board I altered for the Anything Goes theme this week. My girls have just a couple more weeks of Summer before the school year begins and we are busy organizing supplies, shopping for new clothes and shoes, and preparing mentally for the upcoming year. I definitely have school on the brain and had a lot of fun creating this piece.

I started by applying a coat of chalkboard paint onto a mixed media board. Once that was dry, I spread a thin layer of spackle over the Letters Mask. Next, I cut a school girl from patterned paper and glued her to the board. I made a small embellishment with a Star Button that I painted bright yellow and then outlined with a black paint pen. I added a brass scissors charm and tied it to the button with a piece of red twine. I finished this board with a teacher's pet die-cut.

You can find the products I used for this project in the Tando Creative Retail Store. We'd love to see your creativity! Share your work with us in Tando's Creative Zone on Facebook.

Summer with Lisa

Hi folks. Lisa here and welcome to my blog post for Tando
This week the theme is Summer.

Here is what I did...

I used one of the Tando long tags (they come in a pack of 5)and to start, I gave it a coat of DecoArt white gesso.

I used a selection of DecoArt Media Acrylic paints to paint the background of the tag.

I used the Tando seaside embellishments and popped out all the pieces I wanted to use. I gave them a coat of white gesso, added some DecoArt texture sand paste to the sandcastle,  then painted them using the DecoArt Media paints

When everything was dry, I adhered all the pieces on to the tag.

To finish, I tied some spotty ribbon on the top of the tag.

Thanks for popping by the Tando Blog today. If you would like to pop over to my blog, here's the link.
Hope to see you again soon,
Lisa xxx
