Things With Wings by Kaz

I wanted to find something different with wings for my piece this week, so I made The Flion King:

I've taken the back from a ~{Hexagon Frame}~ and painted it with acrylic paints and doodled all over. I stamped a lovely lion and gave him a crown made from the top of a ~{Mini Christmas Stocking}~ (thanks Carol).

I wanted big wings, but not thick ones, so I cut a ~{Butterfly}~ in half and soaked part of it in water for about 5 minutes. This makes it easy to peel a few layers off, but you have to make sure it's completely dry before painting to avoid it disintegrating!

I've painted the wings and doodled on them to finish it off.

If you want to join us and make something with wings, head ~{HERE}~ and enter. You could win some gorgeous Tando goodies.

Another new release coming soon....

....This fits the bill for the Things with Wings week as well.

This is an 8" x 8" piece with 4 smaller panels and elements to decorate.  The main and 4 smaller panels are cut from 4mm thick MDF giving a good sturdy base which, once the panels are glued on, give you an 8mm base for your artwork.  The elements are cut from 2.25mm greyboard so they are also incredibly sturdy but give you all the wonderful options you have with greyboard like running it through an embossing folder.  It also has much less tendancy to snap than MDF so is great for the more delicate pieces.

All the pieces you can see on the frame are included and some are layered up in create a really dimensional work of art.

Go wild with your imagination and use inks, paints, sprays, embossing powders, patterned papers, pastes...the list goes on :)

Things with Wings!

Hello!  I have used a mini canvas for my project with wings today along with the pretty set of  Tando WINGS & HEARTS.

I added layers of acrylic paint to the little canvas and a bit of stamping.  The chipboard pieces have been painted gold and then I ran my painty finger around them.  I love painty fingers hahaha!!!!!
The pieces have been attached with silicone glue so that they stand out.  Small stamped letters were added before I added the chain to hang the piece by.  I plan to hang this on a doorknob somewhere in my home ;-)  Here is the set, lots of lovely wings and hearts:

Don't forget to enter our challenge:  You can now play along with us every week and once a month we will draw a name out of a hat for a winner of some lovely goodies.  Look HERE for more info.

Anything Goes: Mail Art

Hi Tando fans! Dana here today sharing some pretty packaging for the Anything Goes theme this week. I finished up a special project for a friend and was packing up her gift when I was struck by the plainness of the boring brown box. I thought it would be fun to make the outside of the box as colorful as the present inside.

I wrapped the box with brown paper and then brushed on a light coat of gesso. I then spritzed the paper with Dylusions mist. I used the Giovanna Doily, Giovanna Hearts and Giovanna Spiral stencils to trace these gorgeous patterns onto the box.

Once the box was covered with patterns, I colored the designs in with a black Sharpie.

Quickie Birthday Card by Kaz

I've made a card (of course) for our Anything Goes week:

I've used my ~{Bullseye Mask}~ and lightly sprayed ink through it, then painted some of
the circles from the ~{Grid Round}~ with acrylic paint. I then added some white paint pen dots and finished off with a watercoloured image.

ANYTHING GOES WEEK!

Helloooo!  Today I am showing you a journal page .   Its been a while since I did any journaling myself and I do miss it!  But its the New Year so it warrants getting my book out :-D  I don't bother with New Years Resolutions any more as I am totally useless at keeping them hahaha!  So I found this quote...

You will need to enlarge it to see it, sorry!  It reads...

'My goal for 2015 it to accomplish the goals of 2014, which I should have done in 2013 because I made a promise in 2012 which I planned on keeping in 2011'

Now...if you can follow that you must be pretty clever hahaha!  To make the pages I dry brushed some beige acrylic quickly over the page and then added Texture Paste through the BIRD & BRANCH MASK.  When that was dry I replaced the mask and coloured in with Promarkers.  I doodled around the edges and used the HAVE YOUR SAY MASK to make the 2015.  The other dates are stamped.  The masks I used...

If you fancy working having a play then why not enter our challenge?  We are running a challenge through the month where you can join us with each weeks themes and be put into a draw to win fabulous prizes.  You can link your work *here*.

Thank you for looking today, HUGS, KAREN  x

Happy oriental Everything with Irit

Hello my dear crafty friends! This is my new card with a touch of orient made for Tando Dry embossing folder week.

I made it is the usual red- black  oriental style with dry embossed oriental images and background and some oriental stamping over the strip using Rubber Dance part of Oriental woman stamp. Then I added some heat embossed oriental New year signs from Tando and finished with  Rubber Dance sentiment... The last were those  hoarded oriental coins  that were the only possible embellishment for my card (I don't have a lot of oriental things at home, also I love them a lot).

P.S. I am totally not sure the New Year chipboard signs are in the right direction. Can't figure this issue and sorry if it's all upside down.

Embossed card by Kaz

For our technique theme, use an embossing folder, I kinda cheated a bit because I used one of our masks instead:

I don't have a light box so I stuck the ~{Harlequin Mask}~ onto a window and used an embossing  tool (is that what are they called these days) to emboss just a row.

I used Pan Pastels to colour the raised parts and added a watercoloured image and a greeting stamp to finish off the simple card.

You can join us with your embossed creations by clicking ~{HERE}~ which will take you to our InLinkz page and if you follow the simple rules you will be entered into the prize draw and the end of the month.

embossing it...

Hi Carol with you today, continuing with our weekly theme I have created an embossed media board…

I started off by painting my board with acrylic paint and once dry I then ran it thro' my big shot using an embossing folder….I then added perfect pearls and spritzed with water to make the colour fast…

Taking 3 x butterflies from the grab bag I painted with acrylic paint and embossed with a text embossing folder then added treasure gold across the top…. I attached these to my stamped phrase…

We would love to have you play along with us this week - link your embossing project, not just your blog,  here to be in with a chance of winning a selection of Tando goodies of your choice.  You don't have to use any Tando products, but, if you do you will be entered into the draw twice.  There are no limits to how many times you enter, however, please don't link your project to more than 5 (FIVE) challenge blogs, once of which being Tando… we look forward to seeing your creations.

Queen Bee Mixed Media Board - Embossing Challenge

Hi Tando fans! Dana here today sharing a Mixed Media Board that I altered for the Embossing Challenge this week. I embossed the board with a honeycomb embossing folder and then covered it with a light layer of gesso. I added color with yellow and white mist, distress ink and gelatos. I embossed the bee onto the board using black embossing powder. I finished the piece with a stamped sentiment and some stamped honeycombs. These boards are really fun to work with and hold up well to wet mediums and heat. You can purchase these boards in two sizes in sets of five from the Tando Creative Retail Shop.

USING EMBOSSING FOLDERS!

Hello, its Karen here starting our week of using embossing folders on Tando Chipboard.  I have chosen to try the thicker chipboard that Tando use to see if it will go through my Sissix.  I used an old Cuttlebug embossing folder that I had so it was a bit tight...but, yes, it goes through with a bit of muscle!!!!   I also used various designs to see how they would look:

It certainly gives them a whole new look doesn't it?  I chose the TWINCHIE to work with and coloured them with Faber-Castell Gelatos.  They look a bit messy at this stage:

But once I had added some Treasure Silver the pattern shone through more and the colours looked more blended.  I stuck them onto a little 2inch square handmade book that I had in my stash and added the word 'Smile' and a few beads.

So you can push the heavier Tando through with an embossing folder and you get lovely results.

If you fancy working with embossing folders then why not enter our challenge?  We are running a challenge through the month where you can join us with each weeks themes and be put into a draw to win fabulous prizes.  You can link your work *here*.

Dream it, Wish it, Do it with Irit

Hello my dear crafty friends and welcome to our Colour week.
For those lovely almost monochromatic colours I decided to made a small altered canvas and to add colours with stamps, embossing powders and glitters, mists and pearled paint.

First I used Tando gorgeous mask to make the half circle of rays over the bare canvas with texture paste.
Then I added a mix of 5 embossing glitters to add the colours and misted over the heat embossed paste with a mix of mists.
I stamped over the Hot air balloons with pigmented ink and Rubber Dance  background stamp and heat embossed with clear powder.
To add the sentiment (Rubber Dance stamp) I stamped with brown permanent ink over white tissue paper and glued it with gel medium.

I hope I inspired  you with this week colours.

Snow Bird Arch with Dana

Hi Tando fans! Happy New Year! Dana here today sharing an arch that I created for the color theme this week. I'm dealing with the first snowfall in my area and I wish I could fly somewhere warm to escape! I used the inner portion of a Large Straight Edged Arch for the base of this piece. I covered the arch with book pages and then used the Joined Snowflakes Mask with both mist and molding paste to add color and frosty flakes to the background. I topped the arch with a bird from the Grab Bag of Mini Birds.
