Tando Art BlockButterfly- Fiona Randall

Hello All Fiona here with a project using one of The Art Blocks recently launched.

I started by gluing the block together and then gave it a coat of DecoArt Chalky Finish in Carbon. Once dry I then applied a coat of DecoArt Ultra Matte varnish to seal and protect.
I then cut a piece of scrap booking paper from my stash to fit the front and the sides. I Inked the edges of the paper with black archival ink and then attached to the Art Block with DecoArt Decoupage glue.
I then applied DecoArt Chalky finish in Treasure to a Tando Heart from the Grab Bag of Hearts. This was then stamped with a script stamp in black Archival Ink and then Heat embossed with clear embossing powder. The edges were then swiped with DecoArt Metallic Lustre in Gold.
A small Tando Layered Butterfly was assembled and blue glitter added to the recesses and the top layer was given a coat of DecoArt Media Fluid Acrylic in Raw umber and swiped with the gold metallic lustre. The heart and Butterfly were then layered up onto the Art Block as shown using off cuts of grey board to give depth and dimension. The edges of the box were then swiped with the metallic lustre wax and a sentiment added to finish.
These Art Blocks which come in various sizes and depth are a great way to showcase all manner of designs and techniques.
There will be quite a few blog posts over the coming weeks from the DT to showcase what they have done with their Art Blocks.
As always thank you for taking the time to stop by and read
Hugs
Fiona

Spray Inks/Paints Week-Fiona Randall

Morning all Fiona here with my project for this weeks theme.

Spray Inks Paints.

I've chosen to decorate one of the Tando A6 Binders which come in a bundle pack of two binders plus 4 pairs of covers to make more journals along with the co-ordinating template pack.

I went with a monochromatic theme for this project.
I started by cutting a piece of watercolour cardstock to fit the front cover then painted the whole binder inside nd out with a coat of DecoArt Chaky Finish in Relic.
Then a coat of DecoArt Ultra Matte Varnish applied to seal and protect.
The watercolour cardstock was then glued to the front cover.
DecoArt White modelling paste was applied through a Finnabair stencil and dried with a heat tool.
Water was then spritzed onto the cover before spraying with Beetle Black Tattered Angels Ink Spray.
The water allows for the ink spray to move freely and get into all the nooks and crannies but also dilutes the colour of the ink spray from a stark black to a Dark Grey.
DecoArt White Tinting Base was then applied to the edges of the binder blending in with my finger to give a whispy edge effect. Splatters were then added with a Dina Wakley white gloss spray.
A finnabair Grunge Frame mold cast from resin was given a coat of DecoArt Black Gesso and when dried swiped with DecoArt Metallic Lustre in Silver Spark.
The base of the Large Tando Layered Butterfly was given a coat of Relic DecoArt Chalky Finish and whilst still wet a sprinkle of Ranger Rock Candy Glitter added.
The Top Layer of the Butterfly was given a coat of  Everlasting DecoArt Chalky Finish and once dried with a heat tool stamped with a dotty stamp from my Stash with black Archival Ink then glued to the bottom layer to complete.
The frame was the attached to the binder cover using off cuts of grey board to give depth and dimension and the butterfly attached as the focal point to finish.
Simple techniques but effective and dramatic in the monochromatic colours.
Happy with the way this turned out.

February Colour Week- Twinchie Plaque- Fiona Randall

Morning all Fiona here with a Twinchie Plaque for this months Colour Theme.

I created a Mini Plaque from Tando Twinchies with a Tando Grey Board base to attach them too.

i used DecoArt Americana Acrylic Paints to base coat the Twinchie Squares choosing colours that tied in with the this months colour scheme. Stamping was then added  and inking around the edges.
A 6x6  base was the cut from a sheet of Tando Grey Board. The twinchie squares were then adhered into place on the base to create a tiled effect. I kept the layered Butterfly simple in monochromatic black and white with a bit of stamping for the focal point.
A quick and easy project which came together in no time at all.

Anything Goes Week- Rusty Tag- Fiona Randall

Hello All and welcome to another week on the Tando Blog. This weeks theme is Anything Goes

so I got Rusty with a tag and the new frames and Butterflies elements from

Di's recent Hochanda shows.

I started by applying DecoArt Crackle Paste to the edges of the tag and put it aside do dry and do it's thing. I then took one of the small square frames and punched a hole either side using a hole punch before applying some DecoArt Media Texture Sand Paste. Once this was dry I gave the frame a coat of DecoArt Media Fluid Acrylic in Quinacrodone Gold dried and then added a coat of DecoArt Ultra Matte Varnish. The Tag had done it's thing and it had crackled nicely. I then gave the tag and the top piece of the Butterfly element  a spray of Lindy's Stamp Gang Moonshadow spray in Mystic Malachite. They have a walnut stain base which I love mixed in with the irridessence of the mica which has a green tone. The base of the layered Butterfly also had a spray with the Moonshadow mist in Tawny Turquoise as did the backing of the small frame. I then added a coat of DecoArt Media Fluid Acrylic in Metallic Gold to a piece of the Tando Exta Thins Wire which I snipped and layered onto the tag base. I then gave the tag base and the butterfly a wash of DecoArt Media Fluid Acrylic in Quinacrone Gold to give a grungy rusty feel to the pieces and then layered up the frame with a bit of rusty wire threaded through the holes and placed the butterfly on top. To finish I added a little word sticker.

Anything Goes Week- Fiona Randall

Morning all Fiona here with my project for this weeks theme Anything Goes.
I love Tando Grey Board sheets and decided to construct a little shrine. It was so easy to cut and construct this little box shape. A background paper was created with Distress Inks and some stamping. The box was given a distressed effect with DecoArt Chalky finish paints and the background paper was glued into place. The edges were swiped with DecoArt Metallic Lustre in Burnished Brass. Embossed Die cut trims were given a coat of DecoArt Media fluid acrylic in gold dried then given a coat of DecoArt Antiquing cream in black and wiped back to give an aged finish. A Tando bookplate was given a coat of DecoArt tinting base and then glazed using speckled egg distress embossing glaze. The Tando layered butterfly base was given a coat of Speckled egg Distress paint and the top layer of the butterfly was ran through an embossing folder and given the same treatment as the embossed trim. The bookplate and the butterfly were then layered up onto the background within the shrine.  The wooden Finials were given a coat of paint and sanded in areas to distress. Metalic Lustre in burnished brass was then swiped over the distressed areas before gluing onto the base and the top of the shrine. To finish the word dream from a Chocolate Baroque stamp set was stamped onto white card stock and attached to the butterfly. I am quite pleased how this turned out. It is amazing what you can create from a few pieces of Grey Board- that's why I love the stuff.
